  • Hey,well done,sounds like a bit of a nightmare!

I can't believe that they guessed the distance, that's ridiculous. If it's a race surely it should be measured accuarately.

I was out for 2 hrs 44, two loops of 9.It was really nice actually, weather was nice and cool and I really picked up the pace for the last mile or so and still had plenty left in the tank at the end.

Brecon 10 next Sunday then 20 miler the following Sunday.
  • Got my 15 in, legs a bit stiff now as its the longest I've done all year[ by about 5 miles!]
Went from Porthcawl over dunes, climbing round big dipper, then followed xmas pud route over the river and round golf course [including the monster hill]. Then went over a farm track killer hill up thro thythegston village and back into porthcawl via 3 step hill. Very hilly course and happy to get round in 2-32 without really pushing it.

Will now be going out for sunday night darts and beer!

well done all - some long runs all round today.
  • Morning

Well done Jen and Phil on your LSR's

recovery run done 4 miles slow

Alex has put it so well and yes I did enjoy it;-)
Apart from getting lost on the last blimming mile but what does not kill us makes us stronger:-)

And a good metal strenght for all racers to getting on with job in hand when told it was longer and bodes well for future races if it happens again;-0
Live each day as if it was your last  give it all you have to reap the rewards.

  • Morning All,

Not sure what if anything I will do today but well done poppy on your RR.

"I can't believe that they guessed the distance"

Too right Jen, whilst no-one died or anything if someone did they could well have found themselves up on a manslaughter charge. I am sure it is technically criminally negligent. It did mess up my running because once I realised the distance was indeterminate I was no longer prepared to run, just to plod in order that I took care of myself.

Reading the Exmoor thread Fred, the organiser, is now saying he knew it was more all along and this was a special surprise for us all. Bollocks.

Anyway, like poppy says it was great mental exercise.

I was told 120 started but I note only 99 finished, and goodness knows where some people went because they had recorded up to 22 miles.

  • Is there anybody out there?
    Is there anybody out there?
    Is there anybody out there?
    Oooooooohhh
Is there anybody out there ?

  • Congrats all on your weekend running / racing.

Me? I was laying laminate flooring and my whole body (well, nearly all of it) is stiff!

Shouldn't we be on race 3 thread by now?

It's very echoey in here tonight!

  • I like this thread, personally, I think it has a friendly feel, perhaps I am too used to it.

Tis a bit echoey. Nice one on the flooring. I'm a bit stiff too, in the legs.

    Hhhhhhhheeeeeeeellllllllllloooooooooooo

  • I had to abort run this morning got outside house in woods and was limping so fetched forward rest day hoping tomorrow I shall be okay but talking to one of the girls who does xC running the distance and terrain we did I am looking at Thursday before back to normal.....I am being called Hop along:-(((

When I get home I am having a big sleep and just bought some Radox to soak my poor muscles!!
Live each day as if it was your last  give it all you have to reap the rewards.

  • " I am being called Hop along:-((( " :-)))

    I laughed until I stopped.
  • Cuh, you should try laying laminate flooring - I still can't walk properly after 3 days!
  • Hiya folks, just been for a massage,it was fantastic. It was a recovery one to get all the crap out of my legs so i'm feeling much better.

Did 30 minutes recovery run last night and doing a steady 6 tonight.Got club session tomorrow, another 6 on Thursday then rest until Brecon 10 on Sunday.

Not liking this hot weather again,it's meant to be boiling on Sunday which'll be a nightmare.

Will have to make compulsory stop in Blackpill pool tonight on the run I think!
  • Greeny

You should have got a man in to lay your floor!!!

Walking is hard and upstairs is a nightmare and getting up off my chair OUCH

It is so much fun working with men who take so much pleasure at laughing at me !!!

Going up 2 flights of stairs is a slow process!!

    Thanks for laughing Alex!!

Live each day as if it was your last  give it all you have to reap the rewards.
  • going to do a gentle 4 off road soon, legs weren't half stiff yesterday after sunday's effort, but glad to have got the miles in the legs for race the train - its started to loom large in the horizon!!
  • Just been out for my 6 miles, wow it's warm.

Made compulsory stop in the paddling pool in Blackpill.

Looks like there's going to be a big entry for the 5K next Tuesday so could be an idea for everyone to enter online before hand.
  • Well done on run Jen and your paddle in pool;-)

    Race number arrived yesterday:-)

    Phil
Good luck with run tonight and RTT

  • Ahhhh I see.

OMG WP,BTW,my dad tried to get me to go on the sand last night and I kept chanting SNTS SNTS over and over again to myself and didn't give in to the temptation.

He has gone over to the dark side and I don't think there's anything I can do about it.

  • I actually blame all my pains on SAND as we did run over a beach okay it was full of large pebbles but UNDERNEATH that evil was lurking just waiting to get me!!!!
Live each day as if it was your last  give it all you have to reap the rewards.
  • OMG you went on the sand???????

    WP,I can't believe it!

Even though you were on the pebbles you were really on the sand if the pebbles were on the sand.

I hope you aren't going to make this a regular thing.

I shall be keeping a beady eye out in case you feel the need again.

I can't stop my dad,he's out of control,he's going on the sand every other day.And he says he "enjoys" it,I think he's been brain washed.

Has anyone on here been talking to my dad?????

  • Hmmm, yes, maybe.I shall be keeping an eye on him and check that this sand business doesn't get totally out of control.

And on that note i'm going to go and eat some more food.I am very hungry.

    Speak to you tomorrow :-)

  • Evening All,

5m slow jog. Felt ok but could not have run flat out.

Chicken salad for me tonight, pasta lunchtime, (uncooked) porridge for breakfast, plus a yoghurt of course.

Wednesday tomorrow and it's a Rollover.

  • Might try some sand for breakfast tomorrow, well, either that or fruit salad.
  • the road is made of compacted sand, you cannot escape - it is your destiny - the midochlorians have stated it all along,

    - LADIES, SAND IS YOUR FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!

Btw, did a road run tonight, feel ashamed so will take in an 8 miler on the beach tomorrow as penance. Sand - it's grand!

Oh, yes, have my yellow band on, funny but something else I know well is yellow too?????

  • Agree with Phil, Sand, great stuff, without sand what would we do with all the cement eh ? Do you reckon sand is a man thing ?

Poppy, you'll have to do the Rough n Tumble 10.2 and the Terminator 12 with me next year. Sarn Helen Hill Race (17 ish) is worth a go too. Perhaps even the Midsummer Munro, I know the way next time !

Exmoor thread is full of crippled-runner reports ! I am still laughing !
