CUT OFF !. OH BOY !. Ok Realistically we are looking at 6hrs as a cut off point for the Marathon.
Yes the roads will be Marshaled. For safety reasons we have avoided main A roads as possible. Car Drivers in Lincolnshire think that the 60 /70 mph limit is the MINIMUM speed. All B roads WILL BE SHUT. Hope thisd helps a lot of people. Sincerely Dave
David Fenton- I have only just discovered this marathon. If you do a search on this website in 'events' and put in 'marathon' yours doesn't come up. You may want to do something about this as it will no doubt affect your number of entries!
Tell all your mates etc. to get your entries in this month as there will be another price increase in June with an anticipated closing date 31st. July. He/she who hesitates IS LOST.
Haven Holidays are nearby and I would recommend them. They have kindly sponsorted the medals so they are very keen for the event to be a success and retrospectively ,I suggest you contact them for accommodation for a good deal.
Just to clarify the running schedule. For extra safety purposes I have altered the sequence of the races. 10k first, then Half Marathon, then Marathon, Half hour space between. Three different circuits designed with the best possible chance of avoiding clashes. Each event will be colour coded as well so it should be OK. The website:- www.mablethorpe.info/marathon is being updated on a regular basis. We are in the process of putting up photographs of the various on the road routes. So keep watching.
Re the road closures. We have had immense support from Lincolnshire County Council Highways and East Lindsey District Council .Their support so far and their help promised during the race is superb. Councils often get a pasting and sometimes justifiably but in this instance I cannot thank them enough. Well done!
I am pleased to report that we have received the Official Runners Permits for all three events:- Marathon Permit No. 7665 Half Marathon Permit No. 7666 10K permit No. 7667
We are now going through the process of having all routes officially measured to comply with UKA regs. This means that there may be slight alterations to the routes to ensure accuracy of distance.
Well we are doing our best and I am just hoping people will be patient with us as we unfold what I am confident will be an excellent day/weekend for a lot of people.
Hi folks, We are negotiating with three official Course Measurers who will each be measuring the individual circuits. The idea is that they will all assemble and "Calibrate" together sounds exciting huh? Before the official measurement just think of me and my mate Terry(our Treasurer) running around on his bike,(both of us on his bike?) I don't think so! getting it as accurate as we can before the officials come down. We have learnt so much so far of all the things that have to be carried out. People have been very helpful to us all the way along. We still have much to do. Teeshirts have been ordered as the first item in your Goodie Bags. All runners get one free as part of the Entry fee. Anyone else has to pay £7-50. The things we do!! Sincerely Dave
seems things are coming alomg nicely, getting some insight into the logistical nightmare of organising a day like this, I hope its a real success for all concerned. Did sheffield half on sunday in 1:26, but am having cartilidge op next monday, so could be a struggle to get as fit for seprember 10th, but will be there.
