I normally lurk but here goes nothing.....if you're 'afraid' of 12 miles plus at this stage you're only foolong yourself. As I suppose we all agreed you have to match up your training and your objectives and if you have aims to beat 3:30 or so you'd want to be including 12 mile runs or more into your schedule from the begining of a 16 week schedule. Do your long runs slow if you want but do them and you'll reap the reward of a decent race and deminished pain on the day.
