There is one in Cardiff on 7thMay butit is a bit close to the FLM and I dont think I would get time to put any swim training in now so will have to wait for the next one! It is something I definitely want to do though.
That might be a challenge but is certainly possible. I have always been able to swim so just need to practice again. dont reckon I could do 400m of crawl though, would end up doing breaststroke which would be far too slow!! lol
No DB was thinking of you and was about to ask you how you were doing! Yes I was honestly.
It must be so frustrating for you and I am not surprised you are angry. But I bet with the rest you will come back even stronger than ever with all guns blazing and everything to prove (if only to yourself). You cant change what was meant to be. There will be a positive outcome from this, just be patient!!!
Boff think I will wait and see on the day, though I am sure if DB plods with me then i will get a pb!!!
Thanx Rio - I know deep down you are right and the advice from everyone all along has been consistent even if I didn't want to hear it.
I'm going to have to wait probably right until the day before knowing if/how to run this.
My last run was my 39.16 10K pb at Dunsfold, very similar course. If I could go under 40....think I'd know by then if I were capable of running that quick that soon..
If I can't do that but can help you get round I'd take that as a great privilege..
But if I can't run then I'm going to be keeper of the eggs!!
This is a v good opportunity for a 10K pb if that's what you are after...but I guess you have to consider the FLM. What does it say in your schedule to do the Sunday before the race?
(I've only ever done the one mara in 02 and I think I did a slow 10m - I'll have to check)
Gosh DB; it took me so long to submit my post that I missed yours - sorry! You've only just scrambled away from a car wreck... surely you don't want to be stressing yourself with a fast time? It's fantastic you are running again... take it easy
Rio, methinks convincing DB to go for a plod may be a good thing all round?
Rio - yep I looked in my diary for 02 and I wrote down 6 with an easy 1 to warm up..
Obviously don't know where you got your 64mins but unless it was downhill you'd struggle NOT to beat it at Yeovilton - especially with the mara mileage in legs!
Only 2.17. I set off too quick though and died at the hill. Was at half way in 1.02 which is very quick for me. Still reckon I can do close to 4.30 which will be taking nearly an hour off last year
I only get into my stride after about 3 miles so hate shorter runs. I would love to be able to run faster but think I was built for endurance not speed ;o)
I dont get bored I am too busy telling myself I can do the distance!! lol
Yep I normally do speedwork either pyramid session or 10x 1min reps @85% (usually Monday or Wednesday). I do hills too on either Monday or Wednesday with my WRN groups. And a tempo run with my other club on Tuesday.

It is something I definitely want to do though.
...need to learn to swim first!
looking forward to this as a confidence boost and my last real run before the big one!
Things are getting better with my injuries...there is light at the end of a very distant tunnel..but there is light!!
I'm not ruling out this event yet and the anger I had I'm working through grrrrrrrrrrrrr
(if only I'd come home earlier)

- how far have you run since your accident DB?
<<ahem>>...not run yet properly but V hopeful!
Running not properly with me will help I am sure DB!!!

I did 41.40 at Longleat so there's def a pb for you in Somerset!
Took 11 mins off my half pb at Liverpool so on a roll now!
Still reckon I can do close to 4.30 which will be taking nearly an hour off last year
I reckon you will pb at Yeovilton without it being detrimental to your FLM.

I don't want you changing anything before FLM but do you do any speedwork?
