Just checked the MetOffice website - forecast for you tomorrow is overcast and rain, temps 12-14 C. Sounds ideal! Good luck tomorrow.

By the list above it would seem that most of the entrants are RW Forumites!

I'm sure tomorrow is going to inspire me to take my stretching seriously and start (gently) training again.

Come on guys - inspire me to put my name straight down for next year! And when I do run it, I'll be taking it seriously. Sub-4 or bust.

Hope you all have a great day and sorry that we will not be joining you.

Go FatFace, Sezz, Shades and the Macs!!

(mutters under breath at having to cross names off list...) ;-)

My dad's been having a good laugh at the list of 'names' I'll be shouting out tomorrow. 'Fat Face' and 'Oi You' are particularly good ones to yell out, especially if you get the wrong person.

But he reckons that I could shout encouragement to 'Mr Mac' or 'Mrs Mac' and half the field would respond...

Dunno - think you might get some strange looks shouting out "come on, Unsafe Breadbin" and shouting encouragement to Julie Go Slow might sound to bediscouragement!
  • Options
Haha - Julie Go Slow could be taken as sensible pacing advice...
  • Options
I'll let you know just how slow later! Glad I'm not doing London this year, it looks way too hot.
  • Options
See you all in a few minutes

Well done everyone - I was proud to have clapped you all out, and some of you back in! Had to take the kids out so didn't get to cheer you all back home.

(Fat Face - you ran past the car when I was stopped at lights. I almost shouted to you, but realised I'd have to yell 'FAT FACE' across another stopped car. Maybe not the wisest move...)

fab race, fab weather, ok, well better than`London lol

well done to everyone, PB for me of 4.15, well happy, thanks to nessie for taking picsand shouting, met fat face briefly but didnt see him come in, started to shake like a loon so had to get dried off, now in hotel room after hot bath and drinking champagne

    :)

Really sorry I could not be at the race today I had to go to Inverness instead. So I travelled 400 miles anyway and did not even see Ben Nevis.

    Gutted!

Hope you all had a great race.

Well done everyone. Very good race weather - apart from the 23-mile mark when the rain was coming sideways and pushing excess salt into my eyes!

PB of 3:45:35. I hit mile 20 on 2:41, i.e. 8-minute miling, then ran the last 10K in over an hour!
  • Options
Really enjoyed it, at mile 20 I was heading for 4hr20 or less then the wheels fell off and I finished 4h26, still a pb by over 7 mins so can't complain. Perfect conditions, just got back into the car as heavens opened.

Appreciated guy on bike handing out jelly babies! and the chap with the loudspeakers out on the road. Thanks to all the marshalls and everyone else involved.

Not happy - crawled under a rock to hide and to consider some structured training from next week for Edinburgh.

Yaay! I made it sub-4hours! Only by 27 seconds and only on my watch (think I hit 4:00:00 on the event clock) but who cares :-)

Hope everybody else got what they wanted.

My legs may well fall off now, but it doesn't matter, they have served their purpose!

First marathon and enjoyed the whole occasion.

Things were actually going along nicely until 17m when the wheels fell off spectacularly...

Reasonably pleased as I had not done any long runs since february and had only managed a few runs in the last month. The lack of long runs showed up at 20 miles when I had to resort to a run/walk policy. At the half way stage I was heading for a 3:40 time, but given my training recently I guess I took it too fast early on and paid for it later, something I had vowed not to do. Still there is always next year!

Great day though, and thanks to organisers and all the helpers.

I was disappointed with my run, though it was over 50 minutes faster than my previous run on this course in 2005. My immediate pre-race preparation was awful as I realised an hour before the start that I'd left my race bag at home, with my watch, garmin, hat, gloves, energy belt! Amazingly, I managed to borrow a garmin and knicked my husband's hat and gloves and shoved a bar of tablet down into my glove. Didn't feel like an ideal start though.

Bloody hell that was HARD!! First time and nothing quite prepares you for it.

Was ready for it to hurt but the pain started early, around 15 miles.

Didn't walk once though, and managed to hobble my way to 23 miles, after which I felt a bit better and picked up the pace a little for the final stretch.

    3.53.41

I don't wear a watch so it was a nice wee surprise.

Well done everyone! I had a great time supporting, although I must buy more jelly babies next time - I'm afraid my stock ran out pretty quickly. It's quite stressful you know - and I have my own marathon injury - sore hands from clapping!

I hope I managed to cheer most forumites on - I forgot to take the list I'd printed.

I took photos at the start as everyone passed the "grandstand", so hopefully everyone will be able to find themselves - I'll get them online tonight hopefully.

I also have photos of forumites at mile 16, a few at 21, and some finishers.

Sue and Dude, you must have both passed me in the final few miles, well done on your times. I was in the black top and black baseball hat.
