The Aussies get to play a fair amount of matches, but try to arrange some friendlies over in Europe as that will help the players. They also put a footy team in to the olympic tournament.
Am I in the minority cheering on the Aussies then? I feel obliged to, given that they have little Timmy in there. Just wish I'd chosen him for my fantasy team now though....
We have a predictor league going here at work, and I had the Aussies to win 2-1, then they bleeding well bang a 3rd one in, in added bloody time, hate em, hate em.
Ha, OK! That's only natural! If all these flags here a month before the tournament even starts annoy me, a complete nation in oranje makes keeping down your luch/dinner/whatever extremely difficult!
But it's the only country participating I've got any blood-link with (mum is half-dutch), so I have to support them at least a bit.
Saw a 'list' program the other day about the best world cup goals and Belgium featured heavily, albeit on the receiving end :-( That Saudi goal in particular that eliminated us opened some forgotten wounds...
Imski! I was wondering why the Belgian team were so popular as training partners. This is no joke: last week at the not-the-curry there was a big Saudi flag over the bar of the pub we were in...it might have given you pain to see!
Dude- the Italian "actors", I must say, pinch, scratch, stamp, you name it...
moomoo, we've got some players that are half decent playing in the bundesliga: Van Buyten for Bayern and Kompany for HSV next year. The national team is very ordinary though... too many young players chasing the money too early in their career and ending up on the bench abroad wasting away instead of developing.
Imski- Kompany? That's good news, HSV is my team, and he's an excellent technical player. I think part of the problem with the national team may also have been the influx of foreign players into the clubs, so you had less of a pool of top Belgian players to choose from for the team? Just checked: Jan Koller (sadly stretchered off today) plays for Anderlecht.
Comments
They already have cricket, swimming, tennis and rugby (league and union).
That's frickin plenty to goin on with...enough already!!

booo
booooooo
rubbish
bloody aussies. hackers. dirty players.
What's with the booing and hissing and fistshaking at Oranje?
(apart from the obvious being partly german ;-)
In the meantime- someone cancel the Czechs
(Great goal by Rosicky, though, & poor Koller)

Orange- yup, some other people might have problems with that too! As if that would help the final result- out in the 1/4 finals, I bet.

A clean sheet for Italy (Buffon and Cannavaro in my dream team) would do nicely
We want the World Cup Newcomers to win!!!

Don't think that is a fair measure of the game.
Italia could have had 3-4 if they had finished better
but Ghana are strong and showed some flair -if not a little shambolic in defence
Ghana should have finished with four men.
Some shocking tackles, Italian diving or not.
;-)))
if mok were allowed on here
he'd be on this thread ALL DAY!
(and probably not go to school)
i'm reading back to educate myself so i can have sensible discussion with him
(you know i like footie -
but i just can't keep up with this level of detail)
Midfield is an attacking trio of Ribery, Zidane and Wiltord, ahead of a defensive midfield duo of Makelele and Vieira.
Henry up front on his tod.
pretty tidy.
France my dark horses to take the cup.
South Korea 1 Togo 0
France 3 Switzerland 1
Brazil 2 Croatia 0
Plus a clean sheet for Lucio and a goal from Kaka please god of the World Cup
