lol, Google isn't telling me how to make it stop though!
But the picture of the man with the dodgy extensor thingummyjiggy deffo has a swelling where I have a swelling.
I'm going to tape it up imitating the tape in the picture in my amateurish ham fisted manner and cycle to the bike shop to drop the bike off and run back, and see what happens.
erm...... well, it's not working very well, so I'd say it was inferior
It's swollen in the same place as this blokes foot, just below the crosses, and doesn't like being turned inward or upward. It hates it when I push off the pool edge too.
Anyway, it seems ok as long as I strap it up, so I will do that until I have spent so much on sports strapping that i might as well have shelled out for a physio appointment. And then I'll just be bitter about it.
hmmm - well I can't possible diagnose it over the internet, and tbh I wouldn't do it without more experience even if I could see your foot, but I'm wondering if it could eb a navicular stress fracture?
Have a google for that and see if it fits the symptoms.
It doesn't hurt when running if it's taped up though, unless i land crooked, and is more a puffy bruisy sort of pain than a sharp sort, which I'm imagining a stress fracture would be? *crosses fingers*
I'd say it feels more on the surface than inside the foot, if that makes any sense.
Sigh, I may have to give in and actually get it looked at.
btw - just wondered what tyres you use with your Eastons? I had a hell of a job getting my armadillo tyre on and off today, spent the best part of an hour strugglign away, probably expended more energy than on the 25 mile bike ride
Vittoria Rubino tyres. Had the regular ones on there, but they had some cuts in so bought a pair of Vittoria Rubino Pros just before IMCH.
They were a bugger to get on the first time - someone on the bike numpty thread said to stretch them by putting them on and taking them off a few times - definitely easier by the fourth time...was the same when I got new tyres for the midget bike last year. Much swearing.
But I also bent my cheapo lidl tyre levers and bought some that were recommended can't remember what brand but they metal coated in plastic. Still hurts my hands but is doable.
sorry I can't be precise about the foot, the stuff I read said that stress fractures tend to be more common with people who do lots of explosive stuff like jumping, but then again if it is that it's probably best to find out. It could still be the extensor retinaculum or even an extensor tendinopathy
there's a load of ligaments in the foot too - although they're more likely to get damaged if you go over on your ankle. I guess maybe one could get agitated by persistent rubbing of a tendon or something, we haven't done much on feet yet
ah thanks for that - I've had the armadillos on and off a few times but might have a bit more of a go. I ended up using a metal tyre lever but ithe LBS said that could damage the rim (it had scratched it a bit).
Any idea what make/where you got the metal coated in plastic jobs? Sounds like just what I need
Re the foot - sounds likely - I fell off a step the day before the IM, and think maybe that caused it - doing an IM on a twinge, with my lock laces too tight at the same spot. It seems to be getting better, just taking it's time. I'll give it another week and then go and seek help! Thanks for the suggestions.
Plan for tomorrow is to meet at the Leisure Centre Car Park at Cranleigh. Linky thing here
9am start. Lunch down in Shoreham-by-Sea and then we'll turn round and come back. At the last count there were Me, Toucs, Trogs and two others as definites and Ditchy is a maybe.
HH had five punctures. At which point we were out of spares, so whilst i cycled sedately along, he did one mile sprints and then pumped the tyres up, did another sprint etc. Was v amusing watching him hurtle past trying to get as far as poss before it was flat again.
Though I think he has RSI now.
On the plus side, cutting the ride short meant we had plenty of time for coffee cake and red wine this afternoon. Hic.

Ha ha
I just googled dodgy extensor thingummyjiggy and google asked me if I actually meant dodgy extensor thingummyjig
Blimey, it's even correcting your funny word fill in the gappy thing now and still no telling you how to make it stop
well I guess I shoudl know in my profession but I don't have to google to know what an extensor retinaculum is
In fact the first thing that cam to mind was "...inferior or superior?"
erm...... well, it's not working very well, so I'd say it was inferior

Are you trying to tell us that's someone elses foot?
Wish I had some useful advice rather than flippant comments. I hate injuries, even someone elses.
My foot is waaaay more dainty than that.

Yup - right in the middle of the swelling, and also roughly where the crosses are on the shaven hobbit.
I would amputate, but it's my 'good' leg....

How's the foot Ditchy?

Still taped up, so not too sure. Am basically in denial about having yet another bliddy injury.
I've got red tyres.
Not very helpful I know. Hang on, I'll go and look them up.

ah brilliant -thanks for that, will try to find a local store that has them

should be a great day out
Really enjoyed the ride today, so thanks to all for the company
what was the final puncture total, Ditchy?
