having absolutely no local knowledge of llanberis i will be led [kicking and screaming of course] to the local pub for much needed sustainance and rehydration, will have to drag OH with me so that he can have a brag about summiting (sorry that won't mean a thing to you guys a bit of an in joke but made me chuckle). someone could grab a table or three and sit there with a RWF board like you see at airports so that we can be guided in
£2.57 - my contribution to the toupee fund for dave (he will have to buy his own yellow ribbon!)
I have only just noticed the smiley things as well A yellow ribbon on the vest sounds good to me We will be showing support for Maddys poor parents as well as being able to identify each other.
BBBBBBBBZZZZZZZZZZ! Yowl!!!!! Got stung by a wasp in a nice 'fleshy' bit right at the start to a 20 miler in the wet hills on Sunday. Not a great start, These longer runs are testing my lower legs big time. Got to be careful not to blow it with such few weeks to go.
It was a nice run until just after 9 miles when a wasp flew into my shorts and stung me on the top of the right thigh. It certainly wont be stinging anybody else though as I squashed the little b*st**d!!
PaulF- that was a coincidence then. Did you ignore the "path closed due to landslip" notice like I did and run through Culbone Woods? No obvious sign of a landslip although the path was quite overgrown due to lack of use.
Anyone know what this do is they are putting on Sat eve (the reason why the race has been moved from Sun)? Presumably not included in the entry fee.
T-Rex, As far as I recall none of the path was closed, the majority of the runs I did were around the Barnstaple-woolacombe area taking in the Tarka trail too.
When I spoke to the organiser a while back she didnt give too much info about the night do, other than to say that it was free and as a result there would be no food. She said that its being held in one of the function rooms at the Electric Mountain. However, from what I recall there are a number of decent establishments nearby so if its a none started im sure it would only be a very short walk to the next place.
I had better get myself a length of yellow ribbon, we could also start an email to go around the group with each of us including a piccie if people wanted? I have found that a good idea and very useful when meeting up with other people at previous races.
Not much of a do if no food! There is of course one very good establishment in Llanberis offering a hearty meal, no doubt already mentioned on this thread somewhere.
Hi All. I like the idea of a yellow ribbon and photo swap. I am now going to be travelling up to this one on my own (my pal who was coming up now has a gig on the Friday night!). It would be nice to see some 'familar' faces.
Pete's isn't licensed. The Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris is a pretty cool pub. I especially like the art work in the Ladies Loos!
Fading badly on my long runs. Extra shifts taking their toll. On Sunday afternoon I have a 16 miler scheduled after 3 x 12 hour night shifts on Thurs, Fri, Sat. we really are all quite mad!
Have finally got my exam all done, so its "get fit" with a vengeance time now, before I have to start revising! Off out tonight for a long one with 16 miles on Sunday..
As long as its not your promary source of fluid post marathon its normally fine! Plenty of water/electrolytes firstly of course though or you'll look a bit after a few pints!
make sure also you feed well afterwards before you start sinking a few or you'll quickl ybe like this then eventually like
i always try and have a pint of ale from the region that i'm racing in the night before eg Welsh Draggon for this one. it's part of my night before routine. fuel up with the nectar from where you're going to be running.
I like my real ale, (as my stomach testifies), but tend to avoid booze for a night or two before running. Perhaps make up for it afterwards (after electrolyte / feed etc...)
Im a little pished off as i have to travel to Mid Wales after the marathon as its my fathers birthday and my sister has arranged for a family meal !!! needless to say i will not be forgiven if i dont get there!!!!!GRhhhh AM you must be really struggling after your pooey shifts!!(poor you) Yeh we really are quite mad but i could not imagine life without running and being out in that fresh air after such crap shifts!!!!

i'm thinking yellow ribbon appended to personage as the individual thinks fit, perhaps a prize for the most inventive ...
legs falling off ... did six mile speed work then cycled 5 miles to work and have gone up and down stairs umteen times

Hands up who hates wasps?
I hate wasps too!!!
Taken from log of one of my recent runs:

Never having done a marathon before, do post race refreshements have a major impact on health ?
Game for yellow ribbon and photo swap (though how can us blokes make the yellow ribbon look less girly?? - I guess we don't tie it in our hair....)

That welsh dragon sounds a bit sticky and gravy like to me Dave! I dont fancy 26.2 the morning after drinking that!!!
IM not an ale man, much prefer a cold lager or a bottle of red wine!
i used to drink lager then realised i wasn't from the south..but i'm a sosphisticated northern oik as i do like wine afterwards
like you wp you can tell i like a pint or two of ale
