Have you tried a ponytail higher up? I have waist length hair and tend to put it in a high ponytail but put 3 hair bands in, one at the top, middle and near the bottom to make sure it stays put and not be a pain to brush afterwards.
Hi Crimson - not at all trivial! I really struggle as if i don't have it fixed into place it will cause knots that are literally impossible to get out. I've found the following work:
- Tight bun: Put the hair into a ponytail, curl around into a bun and fix with a band/grips
- French plait/braids: Start from the top of the head and work down.
I've also found that when i had shorter hair - i could put it in a hat and keep it out of the way - but if anyone has better suggestions - i'd love to hear them as well!
Yeah loulababes. It's like, my lungs are burning, my legs are like jelly, my heart is pounding so hard it hurts BUT......oooh my ponytail is sweaty..........pooohhh. If you can worry about flappy hair you aint working too hard -PAH!!
I have no issue getting sweaty but my issue is that when i run and I don't put my hair in a bun/french plait the knots are impossible to remove. My bun fell loose during saturdays race and i had to cut out a bit of hair because i couldnt get the knot out.

LOL...actually i dont run 13.1...i did 50mile ultra other week...you really CANT worry about sweat, messy hair or anything else during that
Thanks will give them a try!
C
maybe we are being too harsh....apologies Crimson, just feeling tough today
try spraying your hair with detangler or conditioner before the race? then tying it up? may help?
Always a high ponytail for me, in summer I'll have a cap/visor or sweatband to keep the shorter bits out of my face.
you iz...always have been
It is not during but after that is the issue who wants to spend hours post run combing your hair? Who has time to be honest?
C
Detangler sounds good. I'm no ultra runner but I hate the detangling after a race, whatever the distance!
No problem!
I found dry shampoo works quite well for this.
yeah...man up-thats it NLF...you said it....was i a bit over tough? sowwy...will go back to being fluffy bunny Loula....
It's alright can do bitchy if you like!
e.g. Sorry have a life so can't spend hours post run combing my hair!
C
