Hi there. Don't actually understand the difference between racing/racer trainers, but what shoes you should wear for ultras really depends on (1) the terrain and (2) personal preference, usually figured out by trial and error.
If you're doing a road ultra, probably just wear the same road shoes you'd use to run a marathon. If you're going off-road, you'll probably do better in some sort of trail shoe. But some folk run off-road in road shoes and get on okay so like I say, personal preference and trial and error...
I'm wearing my yellow and green trainers with orange laces this weekend as I'm hoping they'll ward off the rain, can't decide which colour socks though!!!

thanks run with dogs
Lirish, would red shoes with green laces give the maximum benefit?
I thought you would choose green every time Lirish!
....ive got deja vu..................havnt we done all this before guys???
anyway i think we shoouldnt fail to mention the importance of socks not clashing with the trainer choice anyway, surely THATS more important?
WiB green for the weekends. And for best, don't forget that. But red otherwise. Unless you're running on the road, in which case white. Or black.
wait! you can only wear white socks as well for road running!!.....and i thought it was BLACK shoes for road and WHITE for best , surely....
I have got this all wrong!!! no one has even mentioned blue?! Back to the drawing board for me!
....and then theres the bit about which colour road you run on.....
Blue will work better on a wet day so always worth checking the forecast before you put your shoes on.
never thought about the weather JF50.....good point there..so what about if its hot? do red stick to the floor?
Would it be safest to stick to grey socks?
That way you can cope with road and trail in the same event....
true Rosemary..mine always end up that way.....maybe you have the answer..the Gold Enigma trainer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL, yes, a bit small for even your feet though
it looked life size!!!
was it a cute baby trainer sprayed gold?
What about yellow ones? Shoes, not socks!
Lou, it was a little one about 2 inches long. Solid plastic. It's very detailed.
Is that a baby trainer or a trainer of babies?
LOL JF50....
aw rosemary ...i want one of those baby trainers!!
yes
bad because they will end up covered in mud and all resemble a grey sludge colour anyway
im still looking for more of my black nikes...my feet dont work in Nikes of any other colour...*sigh*
