Hi Paul, Firstly you need a proper name and tell us where your from and what is your Tri history if any. (we're nosey buggars)....
He dosen't have any Tri history, runs a lot (Marathons / 24/12 hour endurance events) Bikes a far bit, dosen't swim, so should fit right in here and he dosen't live a million miles away from you Razor so should be up for when we do another ride out.
Platty if you are interested in having a go, stick your name on the list and keep watching for updates!
This sounds pretty damn good to me. Ironmans and halfs all seem to cost as much as or even more than my entire year's race budget which in any case for 2013 has already been allocated well in advance.
Not sure yet on the timing but can I be provisionally added to the list please?
After much swaying one way then the next about the swim.
It will be in the local pool
We couldn't get the lake until 12:30 which would mean some people wouldn't be finishing till after 8 at night.
I am still in discussion with the local pool about being able to have exclusive use of the pool for 1 hour Saturday and Sunday.
The bike course will remain as is but 12 laps which will make the full 56 miles and the run course will be tweaked slightly to make the full 13.1 miles.
In the new year we will start asking people what day they will be participating.
Please also be aware that the Monday is Bank Holiday for those traveling some distance, people are than welcome to sleep over Sunday night, depending on the weather we may have some sort of BBQ on the Sunday when everyone has finished, but there will be food on at the finish both days and if people feel the need to bring bacon/sausages/bread etc this will be more than welcome.
I feel that the event has really taken hold and would people like some memento of the day? medal / t-shirt for example.
This is sounding like a very good chance to meet some of you, I'll have to seek permission from the boss (wife) but I would like to attend, proabably take part one day and help out on the other. Pencil me in as a proabably, may try and get the other half to help out too, depending on how she responds.
As have said before there is space the garden for a tent or two, there is space inside for a few, there are also a couple of Premier Inns and a travel lodge within a couple of miles.

You might not say that after you have meet some of us.
If everyone makes/buys their own medal, but instead of keeping it for themselves, awards it to the person that comes in after them (last finisher's medal goes to the first home)
That medal is fab! Can we have a cut-out version to print off and mount on cardboard? I'm sure Schmunks could source some Pirate ribbon and its sorted. Like the idea of presenting to the person behind too.
but the idea is that we all make a different medal.our own creation and then present that unique medal to the person behind you.so everyone has their own individual medal............so no knicking marshallinis design
I've no problem with people using that design or any altered version of it, I've done a neater big copy if you want it. Not sure what the best title for the race is, but as the thread is called Pirate DIY Half Ironman...............
