I'm planning to go across but haven't booked up yet. Are you booking it yourself or going through a tour operator? Friend of mine have done it before and recommend it too - they'll be there again.
Hi Andy Nice to see a familiar face! Yes, i'll be organising this myself. You can book transport to the star through the marathon organisers so its very easy to sort out. I'm looking at recommendations for what to do in the days around the marathon and then go from there.
I did the half marathon a few years ago. The marathon started earlier and we joined them when they were just past halfway. One of our group was doing the 26.2 and said the influx of fresh legs really helped him. Better than similar events in this country where you all start together and 90% peel off at half distance.
Im thinking of running it next year as I wanted to run it the previous year. We have accomodation as my girlfriends family have a place there so I only need to worry about flights. do you think that anyone will put any extra flights on around the weekend?
Well I've just booked my flights for the marathon and it was only ??125 each with easyjet. Now we've got to figure out how to get to the start on the Sunday. Easy jet have a 20% sale on at the mo
been thinking of doing it for a while but went to docs and got to have me hernia sorted so not sure when that be done or if it will affect my training , i did the budapest marathon last month and was amazing experience and so want to do more euro marathons , i been to malta twice recently and lovely island lots to do and hopefully be bit warm over there then , so hurry up docs want to know when going to be done
Hi! Thanks for the welcome! Training is going quite well thanks! I ran the Zurich marathon new years eve which helped. I am hoping for a sub 3.30 but not sure if I'm in the right shape. I did 3h 24 in Rome last year, but much heavier now lol!
How is everyone else's training going? Thanks for all the advice!
Sub 3.30?! that's certainly speedy! I hope that you can achieve your goal!
Training hasnt been too good lately. I ran a double in January and followed by a few very stressful weeks at work - i've not been able to get in the time to train.
When is everyone flying out to Malta? We're heading out Wednesday and planning to relax for a few days before the race.
Ran the Wokingham Half-Marathon yesterday, and I was pleased to finish strongly. Fingers crossed for Malta, and I'm certainly hoping the weather will be better than yesterday!!!
I ran a marathon over here yesterday - it was absolutely freezing!!
I've had a look at the average temperatures and it should be roughly 15'c so hopefully it wont be too cold. I've heard that our biggest issue is the rain!
Eeek How exciting. Is everyone tapering now? It's Rained and snowed here in London the past few days. Snuck in 24k yesterday but reckon I won't exceed that again till race day... Good luck with your preps!
Hi Mel - we're expecting more snow tonight... lets hope its not too bad.
I was at a race yesterday and got talking to a few guys going to Malta. They love it and go back every year. The only issue they mentioned was the rain and surface water if a big shower happens. Let's hope that it stays nice and dry!
Hi Emmy H mentioned a facebook page could you tell me what this is please? Flying out on Saturday and hoping for a bit of sunshine. Looking forward to it......

Hi Emmy (me again)

It's going to be a good race, I think!

Hi Invisible Man. that's good to know that there's going to be 'new blood' along the course. I agree - I hope that it'll help give me a second wind!
Are you back again for next year's edition?
I tend to run things only once because there are thousands of events that I've not done and I want to do as many different things as I can.
Thanks for the info Emmy
I'll get myself in gear this weekend to book everything then. Really looking forward to going. My plan is to go Friday and come back Monday.

That's reminded me - not booked my flights yet!!
Neither have i.... I still need to sort out my accommodation as well. I asked on the facebook group and have got some good recommendations fromthere.
The main issue for me is going to be picking up my race number as i wont get in until 7.15 on the saturday evening.

Hi all,
There's a facebook group with a lot of info about the event and general pick up information.
I'm really looking forward to it!
@Adam - how is your training going?
@Mel - welcome to the thread - what sort of time are you going for? how has your training been?

Maybe I'll run round in my speedos then if it's going to be a wet one!!
Only kidding - I wouldn't inflict that on the population of Malta!!

Hi Matthew,
Have a look at the group here.
I'll be heading over and we're planning on hiring some bikes to recce the course before hand
One week to go - looking forward to my first trip to Malta
Hi Andy - You're not the only one! I just have the matter of a small 50km this weekend
I've been looking through the guidebook about things to do and where to visit. Has anyone visited before and can offer some recommendations?
I've never been but looking forward to it!
I don't mind it a little warmer as long as it doesnt rain!
50km?? - good luck with that Emmy
