Lindyhopper, I would say it was worth it too. I think it could be a quick course and it's more an event than a lot of halves. Of the seven halves I did last year, it was the one with the most support.
EP is right - the problem last year was hardly the fault of the organisers. The police were a bit overzealous, and wouldn't allow the race to start because someone drove onto the course. This year they've revamped the course to remove that problem.
It's a good event, and next year will finish in the Madejski Stadium, so will be even better.
Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to do it in 2004, but would if I could.
Oh no I've just discovered there is another lind*hopper but with an i. I'll have to change that. What with evil cackles and evil pixies I think I shall be well forewarned of anything Reading might throw at me but I will not be put off. i'm going to injuries now. Has anyone run the wokingham half? I don't have enough time to train for that given the sore calf situation. How do you lot train during winter? Is there any connection between cold weather and sore muscles or am I just clutching at straws? LH
Not done Wokingham, but hope to do it in 2004. It has a good name as a PB course, supposed to be very flat, though a little congested at the start.
I'm no expert, but cold weather makes muscles more susceptible to stiffness and injury, so a good warm-up is important. Start off slowly. Some people recommend stretching after a mile or so. Certainly stretch afterwards.
Still thinking of doing this. Its the 7th March isnt it. What is the start time? I haven't done anything for weeks so would be very slow ie about 3 hours. This will probably make me last. Long way to go for a last place. Must make up my mind as I need to book flights. Who can talk me into it?????? and can I train in 2 months remembering that I am 5 stone overweight. But hey this is 2004. In 4 weeks I will be 50 and this is the year that I am going to get fit again. So will I go for it??????

Boy this went down the line some what. Took me ages to find it.
Well peeps I did it - I have just entered on line AND I have booked my flights so it looks like I am doing it. (What have I done). Haven't run a step since Brighton till tonight and boy was it hard. Back to the run/walk scenario. Looking at about 3 hours for this. Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear. Now if I could loose 2 stone before then ???.....!!!!!.
Thank you Murf for the offer of a lift, after what happened the last time it is very kind of you. Fortunately Snails Pace has entered as well and promises me she will be doing it.
See you all there. (Surely I broke the jinx when I finished Brighton?)
