Stumbled across Meface early this morning up near Ranmore Common, Chatted till box hill and then parted our ways. He was doing some ridiculously long sportive today. Lovely weather for it though.
no shame in walking - I walked the last hill too (not listed above)!! My garmin shows 8131 feet of ascent.
Yes that was a rather neaky short 15% of a bugger. They sort of admit to 10.5 hills and I guess that one was the half. I did stop but got going again on it.
I was crying out ofr a triple. Went low on gears very early on in the day to save busting the legs.
EvansCycles claim they use memory map which works out at 9,100ft but lots of garmins measure 8-9,000 but then the interpolation software reduces this to 6000ft. Who the feck knows which is right.
The Evans map does claim it to be 90,000ft which I think is over egging it somewhat.
Funny(ish) story.
Got passed by two skinny blokes on a climb, stayed behind them for the first part of a descent but was having to use the brakes so let go and coasted past them. Put in a few pedal strokes and off down the hill.
One of the blokes said he got on my wheel, peddaled as fast as he could till he span out and still got dropped on the descent as I coasted away from him. He told me this as he came past going up the next upslope. I then past him on the next descent.
So I seem to descend like a fat bloke going off a cliff!
Just a bit broken, should have been a DNS but decided to give it a go. That will teach me not to go long this year, not a niggle last year doing Outlaw!
Prime candidate for the Mince Off if ever I saw one!!
Candidate?! He's just raised the bar so high light aircraft are being warned to take evasive action! Sometimes you just gotta say, however hard it might be at the time, that you've been well and truly beaten! I have been.
Chapeau TheMincineer, chapeau!
(ironic really that Iittle sister is involved, it was a photo she took that started all my troubles!!)
Quick question my wife spotted a black Jeep with pirate stickers on it around Gidea Park Essex area this morning does anyone know who it is because myself and slag could meet up with them and train with them.
-I got spotted at Cotswold Lake 32: "are you Blisters?" - but the nice lady was a lurker with no name. Usually it's two forumites that ask each other "who are you?", this lurker must have done her homework. Do we call that stalking?

Spotted one Pirate at the Deva Triathlon, think it was BrokeButTri'ng.
Gave them the obligatory "Aaargghhh, Go Pirate" when they passed by at about 20 miles in to the bike.

Not sure what Flatfooted drives? Well, apart from the day job and you can't put a pirate sticker on one of those!
would be funny if he could stick a big one on the roof - the chopper boys would know who the driver was!!
I know it's not flatfoot he has a black golf I know flatfoot quite well. Are there any pirates living in Essex Romford Hornchurch Rainham area.
And who'd admit to it if they did?!
TheEngineer Remember Who house you are sleeping in on flatfoots race day
