Hi
I've been training pretty hard the last few months and Im fitter than I've ever been. The training is of the high Intensity variety so its pretty much eyeballs out stuff. However I've noticed that Im having a hard time remembering things like the names of movies I've seen or putting names to faces. I've always had a good memory so this is a bit worrying. Im only 35 so I dont think Ive got alzheimers just yet. Does anybody else experience memory loss after theyve been training hard?
Thanks

25? early-onset Alzheimer's. Just kidding. Are you tired?
I've been a little cooked of late, yes. But having said that, Im not exhausted or anything.
Ease-up on training for a couple of weeks, get your sleep pattern sorted out, and see how you go.
I have forgotten what I was going to say now.....
Joking aside Its defintely not alzheimers, theres no history of it in the family and I've none of the main symptoms(apart from the memory loss that is). I get the feeling that it is related to the intensity of the training and that maybe theres something lacking in my diet. I might start taking lecithin see what happens.
Seems to be not all too common though, havent heard of one other person whos noticed something similiar. Thanks for the replies anyway
@Eoin B - re. lecithin, why?
Intermanaut has a point - it's not been proved to do anything much as a dietary supplement and I've certainly never heard of anyone being deficient in it.
If you are deficient in anything it's more likely to be B vitamins.
Lecithin has been used for years for its positive effects on the brain and memory. Check out this article:

I take a fairly high strength vitamin supplement so Im not sure Im deficient in B vitamins. But having said that I was planning on taking a H-factor supplement anyway (just to be on the safe side regarding Homocystine) which has a high concentration of B vitamins. Gonna give the lecithin a try for a while too, see what happens
Check out this one - no proof that it has any effect on anything:

@Eoin B - garbage, utter garbage. The link you provided cracked me right up.
Another one of those ballshit pills!
Honestly it's like leading sheep. Add a few vit numbers in there and everyone jumps on the band wagon and takes them!
What's wrong with getting the vitamins from natural foods??
Hey listen it may not work, but then again it might. We could argue back and forth all day about whether something is effective or not. Only one way to find out, Im gonna take lecithin and the B vitamins see what happens.
Cheers
This is starting to seem like a convoluted way with spam...
Will you remember to take them each day?
Hm...not so sure, you could exercise less, sleep more and be less stressed.
Those things would almost certainly improve the condition but your inclination would be to attribute it to the supplements.
"Placebo" is the word that comes to mind if I'm honest. Still, it's your buck, as long as it improves one way or the other then it doesn't matter.
And that's why numpties go for homoeopathy, reiki, acupuncture and such crap.
Say you take lecithin for three weeks and you memory improves - does that show that it works?
Well, yeah......duh!
@Pudge - I forgot - that's how science works!
Erm............ no, it has gone again
Are you sure you are not trying to sell some of this stuff?
I have got some somewhere but I cannot remember what I have done with it
He'll just end up with very expensive wee...
Maybe he can sell that?
The scary thing is there are a LOT of people out there who would jump on that bandwagon, branding as a new 'health kick' if it had the right marketing
Some naturopaths (for want of a better word) actively promote the benefits of drinking urine for health.
Piss in a can already exists...it's generally branded as "Fosters" or "Carling".
I've been trying to explain that to the OH for a while now! lol
@Pudge I met the Fosters marketing director in The Hanbury in Caerleon a few years ago. This is how it panned out:
Me: I've got an idea for an advertising slogan for you.
Him: Oh, yes?
Me: Yes. It goes like this: "G'day mate. Fosters lager - it's piss, in a can."
AFAIK they haven't gone with it yet.
