The Marathon News magazine, which all registrants should receive in the next seven days, will officially confirm whether you have been successful in the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon ballot. The payment link does not confirm the outcome of the ballot. We are unable to respond to individual requests regarding this matter.
That link suggests I am in but will await the official mag
However, how do those that bequeath their fee pay ? if its this method it would make sense what FLM say - because they could be asking people for their money that haven't got through the ballot but have bequeathed their fee (who may not pay up if they get rejection mag first)
I tried logging in at first with an incorrect password just incase it was dodgy. It said it couldn't find my details on the system. I then tried logging in with the correct password. It said I hadn't been successful in the ballot. People who are successful will be taken through to payment details. Of course, sensible people will wait for the mag and official emails before putting their credit card details in. If you are unsuccessful there is no option to put any payment details in.
Phew, that's that bit of excitement over with for the afternoon. And it's given me a bit more motivation to go for that GFA time in my autumn mara
I too thought it could be a dodgy link. Though I'm happy to be proved wrong, I would have thought the payment screen for those accepted would be unlikely to have adverts for people wanting to pay for charity places. And the URl doesn;t look 100% legit
If it was a joke I am sure it would tell everyone that they are in only for them to receive the rejection mag a few days later ... that gives me an idea.
We're sorry, but we can't find the details you entered as being successful in the ballot. If you have any queries regarding this please call our Virgin Money London Marathon team on 0207 902 0200.
I got that too but after reading TR85's post above I clicked on 'forgot password' and entered my email for them to send a password reminder. And got a message saying they couldn't find my email address - which is odd as they've emailed me confirmation of ballot entry to the same email. Makes me wonder if this part of the website is fully functional at the moment.

Other marathons are available
I got the same message - their facebook page says

What Muttley said
I believe the link and I'm not in
Just wait and accept your rejection like a man!!!... or you may even be unfortunate enough to get in.
It could be perfectly legitate but someone first post ... Is that their actual URL
I would be. VERY VERY CAREFUL following some random link that will ask for payment didn't you provide details when registered ?
I second that, don't you give your payment details when you register?

It's not a DF3 thing is it?

It looks legit. According to a DNS lookup the URL is owned by realbuzz.com

Boo! Oh well, better pick another one.

Or it is a bogus site looking for passwords to try for e-mail accounts
i was just wondering that! A bit late now
I paid when I entered so I'm guessing that's why it doesnt recognise my details
It looks OK to me. Mine came up with a different message when I entered an incorrect password than the message is different.
Senor spam - don't worry, it is legit.
also, if you call the number that it gives after the link tells you your outcome it is the official vlm line.
Leads me to believe this was an IT type error. Where did this link come from? I have not had an e-mail with anything on?
The fact the FB page actually refers to the payment link and does not state it is spam etc is also a clear indication it is genuine.
If only DF3 was here to give his advice .......... but we dont want people around here who know things about internet security and the like .......
... and in case you were wondering, Im not entering my details in that site.
I wonder if he got in though?
Ha, no idea, I think I'll have to wait until the legitimate site tells me.
If I do want to get in though, all I have to do is click here.

Hi All
VLM have made this official announcement: https://www.facebook.com/virginlondonmarathon/posts/10151719474869748
Annie
Mr A- That wont work as if you click to pay you need to put details in again and it says i am not recognised.
Annie- sounds like they are overing up a cock up!
Think I'll refrain from booking anything else anyway... just in case...
Even if he did he "Wouldn't see the point" in actually running it anyway!
