I still have received no permit despite all paperwork having being submitted months ago. Last week the guy dealing with the permit clarified that he was waiting for one more signature.
When I was up on the land yesterday, there was a big film crew up there. It could be that they wait for how that progresses before they issue my final OK. So if nothing more gets posted by me before Thursday, we are on.
It could be a cancellation.
To clarify, this is meant to be the very last one, precisely due to this tortuous and painful procedure they have in place. It is very clearly a way of dissuading other organisers to consider this particular venue as an option.
A local club who organises a 10m nearby, was cancelled with a week notice last year.
Sounds like a nightmare, I hope that you get it sorted and the run is on. After all that training for a hundred miler would be a shame if people didn't get to run.
As it the last one - could we turn up and run it as an "unorganised" event as a large group of runners on a long training run with friend and colleagues looking after us
My thoughts were that Henks team could be our friends and colleagues looking after us - however it was us runners doing what we like on the 10 x mile loop - appreciate the lack of a permit etc so we would all be at our own risk being unofficially recorded.
Only suggest this as its the last one and it needs to happen for a send off for Henk and his team as well as a prod at the jobsworths.
I think this might have been better left at "Wait and see." Although I agree with all of the above and will be happy to unofficially record progress, would it not be better to vent our spleens if permission is not granted.
Although not a public platform, should that final signatory see this, might they delay longer simply through spite? If it were me, I'd be tempted.
I understand the disappointment. I am not jumping for joy about this myself. We could be ok and they are just slow with issueing that final sheet of paper.
Let's wait and see...
In any case, please do not show up and attempt to create some wild event without permit. It would cause me no end of trouble as I will no doubt be held responsible.
Again, let's wait and see. I fired off another polite mail to Longmoor Camp where the guy is based. It might be OK.
Please be patient and if we are on, let's make it one to remember!
Don't hit me with them negative waves so early in the morning. Think the run will still be there and it will be there. It's a mother, beautiful run, and it's gonna be there. Ok?

'and walk around saying oi dickhead '
I was thinking more along the lines of tosser or....well, that really bad one he uses
You mean the one he doesn't like being called himself!!!
Thanks Bren
Andrew, you are very witty.
Also, you are very near to being DQ'ed.

If it's cancelled can we all still come round your house to listen to some crap music and make fun of you?
Can we nip over there & call them cunts?
Tbh, I really had it with the guys in Landmarc. So if you want to nip over and call em cunts, feel free.
Natural England isn't helping much either as they love a process. The more complex, the more it justifies their existence I suppose.
Wednesday is my cutoff point due to perishables that get bought etc.
Sounds like a nightmare, I hope that you get it sorted and the run is on. After all that training for a hundred miler would be a shame if people didn't get to run.
Train for a hundred miler...
What a novel idea!
As it the last one - could we turn up and run it as an "unorganised" event as a large group of runners on a long training run with friend and colleagues looking after us
and timing our laps for us...
above is just a thought !
It be on your own discretion, for fitness and insurance purposes
I'm for turning up too and I've only practiced for the 50.
Thanks for the heads up Henk

fingers crossed all will be good to go
How big is Henk's garden?
Guys,
I understand the disappointment. I am not jumping for joy about this myself.

Landmarc! Probably to busy drinking tea lol All ex-army so they invented "hurry up and wait"...
Might have a word with a certain col I know....
Please don't intervene in the process.
There is nothing we can do and putting pressure elsewhere will only make it harder!
WE ARE ON!!!!
PERMIT RECEIVED THIS MORNING VIA EMAIL!!!
