I do not recommend this. In order to prevent toenail damage I laced my shoes in this way which led to tendinitis across the top of my foot, hydrocortisone injections and about 3 months off.
Open to debate - see wikipedia cut and paste below for a better discussion and explanation than I could manage myself.
Cattle can only be used in the plural and not in the singular: it is a plurale tantum.24] Thus one may refer to "three cattle" or "some cattle", but not "one cattle". No universally used singular form in modern English of "cattle" exists, other than the sex- and age-specific terms such as cow, bull, steer and heifer. Historically, "ox" was not a sex-specific term for adult cattle, but generally this is now used only for draft cattle, especially adult castrated males. The term is also incorporated into the names of other species, such as the musk ox and "grunting ox" (yak), and is used in some areas to describe certain cattle products such as ox-hide and oxtail.25]
"Cow" is in general use as a singular for the collective "cattle", despite the objections by those who insist it to be a female-specific term. Although the phrase "that cow is a bull" is absurd from a lexicographic standpoint, the word "cow" is easy to use when a singular is needed and the sex is unknown or irrelevant – when "there is a cow in the road", for example.
I actually remember reading this tip in the mag ages ago and now tie my laces this way. It had naff all to do with sliding heels but does help me achieve a snug fit and I actually think it's worth a mention.

Not necessarily - it could be a ram in a fancy dress costume.
Isnt it time for another picture yet?
This is true - but I think it might be a bit late to apply any sort of logic to this thread
Christmas smileys gone again I see...

Lost the plot with the above -sorry SFF

It's okay to use the word 'cow' to mean a singular cattle of either sex.
Would be a much simpler way to rephrase wikipedia!
Here's the latest guff.
I bet they must feel knackered.

Every time I look in the mirror I wonder "just what is the fucking point?".
Here's the latest guff.
Yes, but what if you're a bloke?
🙂
I read that as hoover!
I agree with cinders. I read it as : Hoover your own body.
whats wrong with making it generic? Wow - they're fast!
I think the tip is to pretend you are a lady.
The guy who nailed his own nuts to the ground in 'Red Square' probably doesn't have to.
🙂
"smoother" is not an adverb
It was written by people from the land where they 'boldly go'.
