Yippee got to be in london this weekend so entered was starting to think I will need to take a wetsuit. As Pizza said anyone got any local info on the route?
received another e mail today;they advise wearing footwear for "multiterain";there are pudddles on the footpath besides the thames that they are gonig to attempt to sweep away;they hope to have the "new race route" onsite tomorrow, and apart from the part ive already metioned there is talk about another part being changed which will mean some "stairs near a bridge";ive done something similar in the area and its not the end of the world!!! considering the local conditions imo they are doing their best to put the race on in decent conditions.....having said that im not so sure the course will now be a PB course?
Was on the course route earlier. Good news is that many of the puddles have shrunk & the big "lake" is now half the size, meaning that the path through it is now above water and the original course might be usable.
It does flood often though at high tide so may change before Sunday. I'll be along there tomorrow & Sat so can let you know. Road shoes are fine. Dont need trail.
Just been on the website - the new contingency course has been uploaded. Looks far better than the previous course lol. Although there are steps in this course its not that bad at all. They are looking at the 1st choice course to be uploaded by Friday. They seem to be doing their best by the sounds of things - cant be easy in these conditions hey.. Cant wait now !
Just run the whole course an hour ago. Course is fine and I will enter the race. Less muddy than the Richmond Running Festival Half Marathon course last September. 2 puddles on the path that can be run round and that could easily be swept away. The towpath is much muddier between Putney and Hammersmith Bridge than the section of towpath where the race will occur. A high tide could change things of course but the weather forecast is good. As a course I would say it is at least a minute slower than courses such as Ealing as the towpath is not the greatest surface but it is a good test of strength for those training for London.
Good luck ester you will be fine, just try not to get caught up with excitement at the start and go off too fast thanks Pascal sounds alot more promising now re conditions, have a great race
I am a bit confused. Which route are we running right now? The one with steps or the original? I am trying to run an PB. Hopefully that is not unrealistic.. Good luck everybody!
whichever course we are running one thing for sure is we ARE running, which considering the weather weve had we have to thank the organisers for getting the race on!!!
ive just found my VLM childrens trust running vest with "pizzapat" on it and ive lost enough weight in 2 years that it now fits properly!!!! btw my race number is 346
I e-mailed the ES Team and they told that we are probably not running the course with steps! YES! According to the mail I got from them we are running the first choice. So I understood the one, without the U-turn either. This is the best choice, right?
Other things they told me was:
-They are only open Sunday from 07:30 -The course is the first choice one and no steps. -No changing room -We are in an open field baggage drop is once the bag is in that's it otherwise it be chaos!
You probably know this already, but I'm new here in London, so I did not know how it works.
And Lisa, PB here we come!!! So excited! I will be looking out for your race numbers. I get mine tomorrow, so I can't tell you which number I have.
Cool Nina im travelling from north London so will be there by 8:15. I will be on my own so will drop my bag as soon as i get there and wear a black bin bag to get warm then que for the toilets lol
So keep a look out with the girl with the black bag and purple adidas trainers and bright yellow laces how are you travelling to the race? I'm going by tube

Thank you pizzapat for the info. Wont wear my light road racing shoes now
Bit off the subject but is kew gardens station the nearest underground station? Sorry its my first time visiting just wanted to make sure. Thanks
Richmond is nearest tube. Out the station & turn right. Then left at the roundabout. Two min walk.
Lol at "sweeping away puddles". Can't / won't be done. I'm about to run the whole course in a minute; I'll have a look at how the flooding is.
Thanks Dan your a star let is know how the course is, i might still risk the light racers anyway if its not too bad

Was in Old Deer park today, (marshalling parkrun). They were putting out all the signs on the road out.
Thanks Rachel
Allright! Sounds good! I'm taking a cab to the race area. See you there!
Great and if i don't manage to see you good luck
Thank you! You too!
Does anybody know the best place to park? There is hardly any information on the website.
There is a carpark just across the road. Should be free on a Sunday.
