gobi - have a great holiday, bike museum sounds like fun
well, I am up and eating my porridge before llanelli marathon, not sure whether I am going to make it all the way round, but just getting to the start line is a major achievement!! It is a beautiful morning, wind seems to have dropped, sun is shining and I am glad I packed sunscreen
Sorry MC, good luck to you too! 5 miles for me this morning DW 1 pigeon, now off into London, not to spectate but for a Thai cookery course, might see if I can see Mo. See if you can pick up a Penny Farthing Gobi.
Morning all - weights and core this morning, stomach needed work aftr scoffing all of my hard work yesterday, got to see some of the marathon yesterday too, lovely weather for it. valis, you're back on the long stuff already.
but the abbreviated version is, beautiful weather, got a bit warm and the wind picked up from mile 11 onwards. OH and kids acted as support crew well - the course went past where we are staying 4 times and they were there each time with a banana for me. Was tough mentally between 18 and 21 miles when I just wanted to stop and passed by the finish chute, but carried on and finished in 6:00:53
a bit stiff today but knees and hips both fine which is the main thing
I think you all know the journey I have had across the years with injuries stopping me from getting to the start line so finishing was emotional and I shed a little tear
Actually I did forget and said 'Merci ' to a Naples shop assistant last week. She just laughed
There were 'SOC' runners in Pompei, I jogged the last 100m to the summit of Vesuvius. I passed the legendary USSR pole valuter Sergey Bubka in Naples. If it wasn't him it was his double.
Oh and there's an Italian chocolate called 'Ovetti' ! Honest
We've had pc probs since we returned !Hopefully okay now
Welcome back birky, and glad you're still enjoying and inadvertently SOCing Gobi. 10 miles tonight including track which was 6 X 5 mins, will hurt tomorrow. Busy at work and looking forward to a long weekend.
Morning all - shameful, no SOCing this morning, run and swim tonight. It is strange that cyclists seem to sport full team kit, waiting for the opportunity to step into a TDF stage at any moment.
Morning Kate: Yeah I;ve seen this guy cycling fast before in full Team Sky kit. Either he's very good or has dosh to burn. His bike is a decent one too. I read Cycling Weekly when they've finished with it at the local library !
