Bit last-minute, but does anyone have a spare entry for this event? I was gutted to miss out on signing up before they sold out, and even more gutted they're not running a reserve list this year!
I'm just hoping I can shed the multiple layers of skin I killed on the Thames Path before it starts. And I'm not sure I can count to 17... How does this band thing work ?
Thanks - sounds simple. While I am sitting comfortably in a chair.... My garmin should help - I've never done more than 3 laps of anything, so counting might be a challenge
Curious about how this feel as my first proper run after TP100 - feel pretty well recovered though.
Kevin - i found this easier to manage mentally as i just thought of it as 17 laps and not 26.2 miles so it seemed to go easier. My garmin handled the course perfectly.
Amanda - looking forward to seeing you on race day!
assuming it's the same as year 1 then the 16 bands are 4 each of 4 different colours so really easy to keep track of at a glance rather than trying to count a load of identical bands
Gatters - I've done the best I can to bundle colours together but we had s different supplier this year and they came as mixed colours so unfortunately there's only a few that are only 2 colours.
Thanks to all at TZ runs. Flawless organisation, great event with so much enthusiasm from marshals, volunteers, and spectators alike.
The 17 laps turned out to be not boring at all, seeing your supporters every 14 or so minutes was all the motivation I needed.
I just don't know if I beat 4 hours or not?
As I came up the final hill on the final lap I saw the clock at 3.59 something, so had to sprint, while trying to carry my 1 y-o, and hold my 4 y-o's hand over the finish line.
The time is but a number though, memories of a great day will last...
What a wonderful event. Agree with Jez re marshalls, volunteers, etc. I like the fact that the drink-station helpers had their names on. I felt I got to know, Amy, John and Steve quite well!
Personally I'd prefer some shade as the heat felt relentless but so pleased I wore a cap - that helped a lot.
omg it was sooo hot! Great event, big thank you to organisers... loved the friendly, supportive atmosphere...was 2nd female in my age group despite taking forever!!!

Hence why the name "Tourette's Hill"......
Look at your definition of the word hill. Its a slight incline and then turns into a mountain
2 1/2 weeks to go.
Ran London and haven't really gone for masses for miles in recent weeks.
One 7 mile, one 14 mile, one 10 mile, one 20 mile, planning 8 miles tomorrow morning and a 22 miler at the weekend before "semi tapering"
Anyone else praying for the weather to cool off by then?
I'd quite like it to to be cold. And drizzly. But not windy. But then I am a Celt so anything over 10 degrees is a heatwave.
The course is a little exposed in places so wind could be a factor.

Start with 16 bands on lap 1 (16+1=17)
Take one off at start of each subsequent lap, so lap 2 (15 left + 2 (lap2))
Lap 3 (14+3) ... Til you get to last 17th lap (0 bands + 17) and you know you're on last circuit.
I've just finished bundling the little beauties up, ready to go into your envelopes with your numbers and chips!!
goodie box stuffing next week -hoping there will be a few leftovers

It's still super easy though! !
Last year we played swapsies to get the colours that we wanted!
Glad I'm working today - taking my mind off of tomorrow
I shall be wearing a T-shirt with: "where the Foch is the finish" on the back. If you see me - do shout abuse/encouragement
Good luck E mmy, go well!
Stupidly good as ever. I really do love this race. It's amazing how tame Tourettes hill can look on the first couple of laps but it soon changes
Xxx

Now that is how to organise a marathon!

Have penciled it in for 2015.
I would go for it Millsy. Superb organisation. This was my first marathon for two years and I really enjoyed it....
Well done anniesophie - how was your cold? I had sniffles (man flu) too but thankfully it didn't affect me too much.
Loved this event.
