Got my new bikes first puncture today, whipped the bike on its head got my spare tube out then realised my levers are with my other bike, managed to prize the tyre off with my fingers and front door key, did think about popping into a nearby cafe and asking for 2 spoons
trainng seems to be going well.I have swam 3 times this week.......I am again turning into a swim goddess.but i have a sneaky suspicion that I will be just as slow as the previous few years when I have avoided the water for 99% of the training
getting to the stage where I really need to look at the logistics for this. I spend so much time racing these days that I often don't look at the nitty gritty till nearly the day itself! I can't even remember what time the start is for tomorrow's race!!!
The PA needs a PA
I am however getting organised on the camping front. Go Outdoors has become my regular haunt of recent weeks!
won't be long thats for sure.had my half ironman warmup race today and it went well....nutrition worked really well......got to see if this can transfer to the full
I managed a 14 mile run last night. It is my longest run because of injuries, which is a bit worrying. Hopefully it is enough!
If it's any comfort to you, my longest run before Austria was about 10k though I did do a 15 mile walk. On the day the run wasn't pretty and was mostly 30s/30s run/walk with an average pace of about 15:30m/m. You'll be fine
2 big weeks then its time for a taper? 3 weeks training is not a lot for an ironman distance race, but i think i'll be ok. i have done a bit of base training.
My daughter H is doing the Outlaw - her first Ironman. She did a half last Sunday and managed well. But she is understandably worried! Any advice that you could give me to pass on would be gratefully received, especially if any of you have done this particular one before. And since I am her sherpa it will help me too. Thanks everyone.
I can't believe my taper starts tomorrow. Definitely excited.
I have loads of logistical questions as I have never done a race like this before. I will read the info pack fully and then post my questions here for help!
matsmum wibbles are normal just keep things as normal as possible in the week or so before and if needed I'd give her ever space to set out transition or a big hug if needed. The littleist thing might appear to be a problem as the mind overwork's in the buildup so if in doult just grab the nearest pirate and ask if you need to.
Not set in stone yet but sure me and a few other's will be shouting abuse and jelly babies nere the cricket pitch on the run if you fancy being silly.
As with seren save the beer for after it will never have tasted so good.
I will bring jelly babies and be settled down by the turn around point by the lake - where it feels like the next water station is never getting any closer

Slightly disturbed to realise that the final day of the Tour will also be the day of Outlaw!

lots of people never go more than 12 miles in training for the run to avoid injury

It really is a nice beginner friendly race......advice.don't go off to fast and try and enjoy the day.....
not a lot of support on the bike but the run leg is nice and busy with support out .......
best advice is don't get too drunk the night before
Ey up. As they say on the tour.
I'm back for another crack at Outlaw.
I'll have a read back and catch up on the gossip.
As you were.

Hi.
Long time lurker, first time poster, be gentle on me.
Somehow, like many, I managed to get myself signed up for the Outlaw in Nottingham.
After much googling for tips/advice etc I have seen the Pirates pop up on a number of occasions...
I know you must get sick of it, but could someone explain the deal, and how I join etc etc...I need all the help I can get in 20 days time...
cheers
mike
