Too yucky and cold ( let alone temps hovering around 0C) to consider biking.....even mountain biking.........I am a wuss
I did however do a spin class preceded by 45 mins on the spin bike doing my own thing and have swum this evening.............so all is not lost
Need to decide what to to tomorrow...........need some bike miles but forecast not great and it's currently sleeting on and off here which does not encourage me enormously
Quick good morning from the flatlands. Good trip up, only 11 hours 20 minutes, nearly a world record
Read back but have to go in a minute. Choir director has got a 6 part anthem for this morning, and we are always tight for people so she asked me to come and sing if I possibly could.
Meanwhile
((((DL))) and (((OH))) Having the lurgy is pants. So is trying to sleep next to someone who's lurgified.
Yums, your motivation always impresses me!!! xx
NR, wot Yums and Melds and Sluggie said. The first thing is to ENJOY it, not try to rack up figures for their own sake. The next thing is to be realistic: you're coming back from a major illness, and need time to build up again. As for your dad must be enjoying being fit, it's been a big accomplishment for him, and you should be proud of him but (excuse the plain speaking here) you don't need to compete with him or let him tell you what you 'should' be able to do. You are your own person, with your own motivations and challenges and accomplishments. He runs his life, you run yours.
((((Pippip)))) Teeth are awful. Teeth without anaesthetic doesn't bear thinking about!! Hope you enjoy the Grandian, the tea and everything else you can get hold of!
Sluggie, the new trial is at least hope on the horizon! Will it be different from the first one, or are they just not sure they did the first one properly? Either way, I hope this one works better---and that maybe they can bring that date forward!
((((Tubs))) 'Weird test results'? As if you didn't have enough stress already...!! But at least it didn't turn out to be anything. And good news on Meg's manners, Brams' recovery, and your ability to hide while the Shetlands do their thing!
Nogs, I am sure you would cycle up Mt. Everest in a blizzard if you had the chance Hope HL is getting used to being waited on hand and foot. xx
Big hugs, oohs and Aahs to Waisters with coughs, colds, hurty teeth , impending ops and dodgy test results.
That should cover everyone.
The Archers, church and a family lunch take up my Sunday. I'd probably skip church in favour of skiing on Eurosport but Penny wants to go and she's selected me to drive her.
I survived the night by decamping to the spare room. I am somewhat unpleasant to be around today so taking it easy - the only thing running round here are my nose and eyes.
A lot of cutting and pasting going on up there - think I lost track a bit - but NR - relax, enjoy it and stop comparing yourself to others - there's only one you!
Didn't sleep too well. Heard Pippette going out early to cox, the Heard her getting ready ?.. She'd been and come back as its too windy to row. She has gone for a run in our country park on an old railway line which should be more sheltered, I havent ( though now think it sounds good idea ...)
im sorting out my planning file which is being handed in tomorrow for the first time in ages. I always (nearly) plan, but don't necessarily file it ....
thenim going to file my clothes, which are less organised than my planning...
Then im going to put in an order for Rw to see our famous Waister (my avatar was in it once when they had a screen shot of the forum)
i had a good result yesterday when a nuisance phone call told me off for wasting his time!
Having frozen completely and watched the boys staggering in the bitter wind (north wind and north facing coast is never pretty) I've binned any idea of going out again today and have turbo'ed an hour instead........very boring but better than doing nothing I guess.......
LOL Meldy, mine does sometimes Lovely photo of Murph on FB, it's good to see him having fun.
(((DL))) hope that the snotmonster moves elsewhere PDQ. I'm also full of snot but, thankfully, not feeling unwell.
Chuggy, the anthem sounds challenging, I hope you enjoy singing it.
Pippi, I guess the wind has to be pretty bad in order to stop the rowing?
Well turbo'd Podds, the boredom must have been immense.
Sounds like a fun time Spence, I might even buy that edition of RW.
(((Larry, Tubs, HL and anyone else who is broken)))
Chuggy,we had some technical problems with the first trial. The lead moved out of position for 2/3 weeks so they really need to be discounted. I started to get some benefit right at the end of the 3rd week and would have liked to keep the device for a few more days to see if the benefit increased. However, the risk of infection was such that the lead needed to be removed. I'd like to feel that I had a really good trial, with the lead in the correct position, before I make such a big decision.
It looks bright and dry outside today, MS is w*rking and I'm looking after the cats .
You should be down to counting the minutes now, Meldy. Hang in there!
Spence, sounds like a riotous way to spend a very cold Sunday morning
Nogs, your halo is shining do bright I'm blinded from over here But HL will really appreciate it all, you know.
(((DL))) I hope you get well soon--- for everyone's sake! xx
Podds, it sounds atrocious where you are. Nobility was shown by you AND the boys in getting out there this morning, but that's surely all the endurance you needed to show for one day. Hope you're all cozy on the sofa now.
Pippi, double marks to Pippette for being willing to cox and for running in what sounds like Arctic conditions. And I LOVED your triumph. How very satisfactory to have managed to waste the time of a nuisance caller. That made my day!
Glad I went to church, the anthem went well and several friends who've had health crises in the last few weeks showed up looking much better. It is currently not raining, so I'm going to whistle out with Monty for a little while before the rain returns. Happy Sundays all. x
Not seen it pippi - currently on train home from london knitting socks
Afternoon all Been rockin (in a sedate way, of course) round London with some pals from (shhhhh) another forum... so no running But they did force me tobuy a new pair of shoes!
Oh Pippi, that is clever! Hope Dragon Sue pops along, she would love it!
Sluggie, sorry, we must have cross-posted there. I remember the problems with the first trial, but it's very good that at the end you were getting enough response to make it worth trying again! Wish they could do it before August, but we will hope that this time the result will be much stronger and more helpful! And the anthem went off quite well----lovely Tudor thing for Candlemas, if you like such things you can hear the choir of King's singing it here:
Hi everyone - sorry I haven't read back. It has been a completely exhausting weekend and I've completely fallen down on my exercise targets for the past two days.
Yesterday we drove halfway round the country and froze our butts off buying a new(er) car and today we had to traipse into London to go to a sunday-opening post office to get it taxed. Although buying a new(er) car was very much something I wanted to do, it did prove to be rather stressful and also emotionally draining as I found it hard to say goodbye to my old faithful car that has seen me through so much over the past 10+ years.
Anyway, suffice to say I didn't run yesterday and I'm not swimming tonight. I feel bad about it and rather than a tired blob but hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow.
And I have the drive to work in my new(er) car to look forward to
Gawds, you lot can yak!!! I've read back but have probably missed loads - note to self, don't leave it a week between visits to the forum.
Stick to your guns, Podds. If you haven't got time you haven't got time. If they won't furnish you with a priority list then you just gotta do what you can and sod them.
Great-nephew is in Yr 1 (he'll be 6 next month with a developmental age of 3.5 ish). Apparently in class he's no trouble, doing the work as best he can. His reading is slowly improving but he is still behind his class mates, as is his spelling. His speech is almost understandable to others now - I don't always need his mum to translate. Unfortunately his behaviour out of school - home, church, shops, park, etc - is very hit and miss. It doesn't take much to overload him and bring on a meltdown. Anything different or new is guaranteed to bring a reaction. We're thinking a form of autism. AND he's so full of "go" but has no concept of cause and effect or danger. Niece's grandad is my stepfather in law.
(And now I'm in trouble with Mr O cos I just yelled at him for expecting conversation when I'm busy).
Blimey Larry! Talk about doing it in style. Hope that bone heals properly and all the aches and pains are settling.
Hope the education twonks can get something sorted for FC6. It really does make me wonder why it's so bloody hard to get anything done educationally whilst the kids are of compulsory age but as soon as they get to the voluntary education (like college and uni) then the Support Units there can't wait to be helpful and sort things out - in my experience with my two.
Glad to hear Penny is so cheeful, Noggs. Not sure I would be with that sort of limitation for 12 more weeks. I'm not a patient patient at the best of times.
Next park run for me should be 7th. Or rather, the next park run distance will be. I'm test driving a new one that is due to start soon. They're asking for volunteers to both volunteer and run the course. Not sure how it's going to work in practice because from what I can see of the proposed route it's rather busy at the weekends with the public and I don't fancy having to using the stony beach to get out their way. (and that's now, with locals. Imagine what it'll be like in tourist season).
Hugs to all the snifflies, achies, and those in need.
Onesie, good to see you. Sounds as if your great-nephew ought to be professionally assessed so he can get the specialist support he needs. It can be very frustrating for kids with learning difficulties---they try so hard, and can't understand why others 'get it' and they don't. He must have a great family to be able to handle school so well; not surprising if he feels the need to let go elsewhere, especially with all that energy. And well done on testing the parkrun, tho a stony beach dodging tourists doesn't sound like an ideal route
Meldy, how nice to have a car that sips politely instead of slurps By now you may be at work, so have a good one.
Coco, your new car looks lovely! And for goodness sake, girl, don't start beating yourself up again!!! Each of us has only got so much physical and emotional energy, and when your quota for the day is used up, it's sensible and healthy to relax and rest!
Hailing here. How charming. I foresee many loads of washing in my immediate future. C3 hasn't changed his bed for 2 weeks (to be fair, he is working 12 hour days), and I got some new towels in the sales as ours are literally shredding so they need washing too. Oh well, not sure wandering in the hail appeals anyway!
Ah onesie, but I thought you said he was a great nephew;-) sometimes it does seem like an uphill struggle to get anywhere when kids don't quite fit the norm. I think we were referred to a specialist via our GP.
A Sunday opening Post Office, coco. We is well cosmopolitan here as my nearest opens until 8pm weekdays and 10-4 Sundays Sentimental over an inanimate object, bless but everything is impermanent
Chuggy, two weeks not changing bed linen for bleurks is nothing!
Thanks Yums for cheering up Monday.....or at least making me giggle.......Readers' Wives.........
Today I am mostly disliking the fact it is Monday once again and as usual the weekend goes so much more quickly than these pesky week days.....
I would say at least the sun is shining but that's little consolation when stuck in an office and it is bloomin' freezin..........plus they are predicting the north wind on the north and east facing coasts all week (that'll be you and me and Larry then Yums!)
Woo hoo, my bike is back from Wiggle having had a new bb insert bonded into it. I took it straight to the bike shop for a new chainset, chain, cassette etc. Should be totally fettled this week. Just a bit ouchy in the wallet department.

Ben the photographer was as lovely in person as he sounded on the phone
So many photos taken & I guess at a push he'll probably use 3!? He got the measure of us pretty quickly when one of the ladies shouted, "camel toe!"
Few photos at the club and then to the park where he took a load more! We didn't run, well only up & down to keep warm!!
But such a laugh was had should be in the April edition, which is out in March I think??

nice new car coco and a lot less to fill it up than this time last year! I filled mine up for £41 yesterday and nearly did a dance on the forecourt
