So – I’m a bit new to all this (first overseas IM). After some advice…
Flights – is Thursday to late Sunday / Monday good?
Flights – Flying from London, all seem much of a muchness c£250 including my bike. Seems to be choice of Thomas Cook, Monarch or BA (assuming BA will take bike free as part of the luggage allowance). Anything I need to be aware of?
Accommodation – I’m assuming its best to stay in Puerto del Carmen. I’m going to be traveling on my own so it would be good to be near the Pirate hang out – is there a preferred hotel / area?
Anything else I should be thinking about at the moment?!
As it is a Saturday race it might be a bit tight getting in on Thursday. Wednesday evening might be better if you can do that. Depends on whether you want to do some swimming on the course, you also have to get over to La Santa to register.
There was a rumour yesterday that Monach are looking to go the same way as low cost holidays. Nothing substantiated but might be worth putting the flights on a credit card just in case.
Flights with Easyjet from Gatwick too if that helps....
late Sunday is a bit quick for the off... firstly, its tough travelling the day after, sore legs and all that.... and secondly, you'll miss the pirate after party (not wise!)
accomodation wise, not sure where everyone is staying, but there are a couple of venues that tend to be used... best get answers from those attending.... PdC isn't very big though!
Enjoy.... it has been my favourite race so far by a HUGE margin... its epic!
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday

Oh good, wouldn't be a foreign Pirate trip without some degree of oh f**k thrown into the plans.

I'd echo this. Due to lack of annual leave this year Mrs Daylight and myself did Thursday early morning to Sunday late afternoon for Mallorca. The Thursday wasn't too much of an issue (collected bike from Shipmytribike on Thu, quick swim + ride Friday, along with reg and racking). However, leaving while the Pirate party was just getting into full swing was a PITA. If we'd had the holiday available, I'd have probably done Wed through to Tue.
Sunnysider, we'll be flying from London on the Wednesday and coming back on the Monday if that helps and will be staying at the Ocena village like we did this year. PM me if you want a chat about anything
Last night I got 'the pass' for Lanza. Today, I thought I might as well push my luck a little bit more and suddenly I'm entered into the Devil distance of the Dragon Ride on June 11th.
Lanza bike is going to be a breeze compared to that... I hope!!
Woohoo I can feel another Lanza party coming on..,, err I mean training week as I will NOT be repeating this years antics and trying to race straight after! ????
need to review annual leave availability, as its getting thin on the ground.... but subject to that, suspect that Mrs MC and/or I will head out to support, do a bit of train spotting and help keep the island’s cocktail infestation under control.. MC (not so) Jr is also lobbying, but subject to the dates for her finals and dissertation

I'd do those hills twice to not have to deal with the cross-winds and shite road surface at Nazaret, the most hated section of road I've ever ridden
why am I loitering on this thread
You'll definitely find a sentence containing the words Lanza, bike and breeze.... but possibly not in the exact order you'd prefer.....
Funkin does love Lanza
Agree re nazaret
I'm in chalk me up on the race list please.
