Castlerigg Hall has been mentioned for camping. It is a lovely site however you can't book in advance and there are no groups accepted. If you all turn up and start setting up close together it may set a few tongues wagging. It is first come, first served so if you get there late on the Saturday there may be a problem with getting in.
Sorry not sure of other sites in the area, just I have stayed here with the family.
Yippee the raving drunks, sorry the Hero's of Mallorca picked Hamburg for next years championship race, so I dont have to consider coming out of retirement.
Been away from the forums for a wee while due to life 'stuff'. However there now seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, so onwards and upwards.
I'm contemplating whether or not I should withdraw from Lakesman. I'm not looking for any answers here, just humour me while I think out loud. For the past few years I've been in the very fortunate position of working evenings, and having all day free to train while the kids are at school (not reflected in my race results, before anyone else chips in!). As of next week I'm changing to a daytime job. Since hubby works shifts which regularly involve evenings and weekends, that cuts down my training time even further. Added into the mix is my return to university this year. I'll be studying and writing assignments in the run-up to Lakesman and, since that's what I'm doing right now, I know it's going to eat into training time too. I know most of us will have been on a start line thinking that we didn't do enough training, but I don't want to be there knowing that I didn't do enough. I also don't want to approach it from the point of wondering how little training I can get away with. My gut feeling is that uni and settling in to my new job have to be my priorities for 2017, and there will be plenty more opportunities to race.
I've just read over what I've written so far, and it looks as if I've made my decision.
I will absolutely, definitely be at Lakesman to drink and hurl abuse.
And I'm sure I'll find enough training time for the Loch Ness marathon in September.
I'm really surprised there has been no communication from the Lakesman team since entering, Is it just me? Is anyone else receiving any updates via email?
Arrrr great, maybe my postie is just weighed down then. I guess everyone doing Finks plans started this week. hope everyone's fit and taking it easy building up.

Pre-training training started today. First run for nearly a year. 3k at 14min miles so don't think there is any risk of me peaking too early

Been trying the website for a few days, I asked the IT police here and say its Down? I assume they don't mean depressed?
Interested in this, but can't find a starters list to see how many places left?
I just checked and the website is back up, you need to click on register, I guess all that tells you is that there are places left but not how many!
Thanks FM
Got the latest issue of the Lakesman Chronicle today....
Slightly spoilt by the photo on page 7 Teehee
Some bloke wearing his under crackers over his shorts ;-)
Sadly ;-)

More abuse hurlers are always welcome.

Hmmm Thanks Fe ing Madness, is this the first one, or have there been previous despatches?

No doubt I'll be getting an email asking for more money soon
I've not seen this Lakesman Chronicle yet so maybe its waiting for me.
Nursie - that does sound like a sensible decision. Not sure a Pirate has ever made one before - well done !
