When looking at marathonfoto website someone else has the same number as me. Should this be possible? my number was 41226 but some guy in a white top also has that number?
i'm gad this one is receiving the attention it deserves. If you are going to swap bibs at least make sure it is someone of roughly the same age and also the same sex to start with. Then ensuring they don't do something silly like age group placement is surely a must.
Cal/DT - did you read the comment at the bottom? "Male, young and with quads like that, but he can only place third in the Female 55-59 age group? He’s a loser on so many levels. I’d like to meet those top two ladies!".
That looks like a green GFA number. The lady runner is listed as from Sweden, overseas runners cannot enter the GFA system so how did she obtain the number?
That did cross my mind CD though she doesn't have any profile on PO10 or Parkrun. Otherwise giving your female number to a bloke who can consolidate your GFA time could be deemed a bit naughty.
True, Wardi, although my only point was that Swedish Anna must have been eligible for GFA (accepting that her qualification time could have been run by someone else) or her entry wouldn't have been accepted at all.
I'm pleased to see one of the main cheats identified (the v55 3rd place) is now removed from results.
Nessie, I don't know that could be a 40 year old man, though Hugo printed across the chest causes suspicion. Probably not enough to it for vmlm to intervene.
I think it's going to be hard to DQ someone who looks to be a bit younger than they're meant to be - unless it's massively obvious. The men running as women are an easy DQ though.
You say that, but in this current sensitive climate on gender, is it that obvious?
Anyone photographed in the later stages of a marathon who doesn't look at least a decade older than they actually are clearly isn't trying hard enough and should be disqualified on those grounds alone.
(Do I need a :-) to avoid being called elitist? :-))
And SG's absolutely right (again) - there's not a chance of VLM going down the road of DQing anyone based on a photo looking a bit masculine. Imagine the outrage the first time they got it wrong!
This guy Frank sets an unofficial V70 world record, and appears to hit all the timing mats. Someone on Letsrun smells a rat though, because he's been DQ'd at a previous marathon for course cutting, and his times suggest he basically ran alongside another runner for most of the race, but while there plenty of photos of this other guy in the race, there are none of Frank. Eventually photos turn up that show Frank cutting back into the course at just the right time to hit the mat, and it seems he's been doing this (dropping out after each mat, getting transport to the next one and cutting back in at just the right time) at many marathons over many years. Marathon Investigations are on to him as well.
Nothing to do with London, but didn't want to open a new thread... Anyone seen the latest news of Frank Meza? M70 marathon runner had just been notified that his record result in the LA marathon would not stand due to inconsistencies. Today's news seems to say that he ended it all by jumping into the river. What a tragic end to the life of a talented runner who gave so much to so many! Guess we'll never know why such a guy would do such a thing.

In fact, nigh on perfect as deterrents go.

Not VLM, but this one is good:
