8 hour marathon finish for some people would be a huge achievement. You are 300 or 400 pound runner and you are carrying extra weight and 8 hours is a realistic marathon time.

It is not running and realistically you shouldn't be attempting to run a marathon.
Maybe they were fat and they were definitely slow. Maybe they should be less precious about it - a bit more training and a few less trips to Greggs and maybe they could actually run.
I get called baldy sometimes but I don't moan and whinge about it.
8 hours is 18:18 minute miles, which is normal walking pace. It's not a brisk walk. London Marathon is not a walking event, it is a running event. There are plenty of charity walks for walkers. Leave the London Marathon for runners.
