I'm getting close.
Not the cheating hanging on to your other wrist / jumping in the air kind, but a proper dead hang single arm effort.
I know climbers and weight-trainers are supposed to be able to do them, but I've never actually seen it done. Hoping to succeed before summertime.

Only kidding!:o)
I can do about 20, and can hold a one arm pull up static in most positions, but minimal upward movement is possible.
17 though??!
hats off.
I never managed it, though some of the "extreme" grade climbers could do a few. I've never seen 17 done before though.
We used to practice lots of finger tip pull ups. Palms facing away and only holding onto a ledge 10mm wide. My skin's too soft now.
Do you think this is the first ever runnersworld post from Kindu? Nice of these UN guys to give us internet access.
Happy birthday again.
First post from Kindu - hey, it could be the first post from the whole of Maniema Province, or even all of central eastern DR Congo, who knows?
Great to hear from you this weekend.
xx
Or is that a blonde thing to say?
So your weight is not as important as your species, I would say (Panthera Pardus?)
Tried pull up just now and failed miserably. Need to install a bar in my jungle abode and eat more beans.
(and angelis only weighs about 3 stone!!)
still doing two arm pull ups with a 15kg assist. But working towards no assist and then onto one arm pull ups.
Training tips welcomed for a lop-sided wannabe
Current training technique comprises trying, and failing, and trying, and failing, and trying, and failing, and...
I shall let you know...
Thanks kaskas, I do 2 arm lifts and lower with one arm - and sometimes do pull ups with 2 yr old hanging off me. Seems I'm on the right track, but just not there yet.
Does my equation,
30 with 2 arms = 1 with 1 arm
sound about right to you?
take a study kitchen table or office desk then put your hand palms face down with your arms straight lift your body with your head going forward from a vertical base to a horizontal base.
At this point your arms should be straight pressing on the table and your body completey straight. Try not to go to far forward as you might hurt your nose and make sure the table/desk can take your weight without breaking.
