I can't really say....but I've only done this one the once and that was 20 years ago! The course may well have changed since then but I had a real bad race. The weather didn't help...torrential rain and freezing cold wind all the way. I got a Personal Worst of about 5 1/2 hours. At some point I will go and make my peace with the race...but not this year.
Cardiff Marathon is a good one...Oct 3rd. Nice flat course, lots of support and rumour has it that this year it finishes in the Stadium...like the 10k over there does, which incidently is 4 weeks before, and another nice race to do.
Whatever you decide...good luck...there's no experience to match completing your first marathon!
I was going to ask about that! Didn't they have a half last year and why aren't they doing it again this year. I would have been up for that. Now it looks like I'll have to go for the Flora 5k down Broad street!!
Hope people don't mind but my club is organising a road race on 25th July at 10.30am "The Trentham 10" in staffordshire over 10 miles also incoprates the BMAF 10 mile championships more details at www.trentham-running-club.co.uk or e-mail info@trentham-running-club.co.uk
Fying ant - take it you mean you'll be doing 4 half marathons in Sep. I am planning on doing 3 but was beginning to worry that may be too many! It will be this, then Bristol(12th) and then Lake Vernwy(19th). You obviously think this is do-able. How experienced are you and have you got any tips that will help me through or help prevent injury??
29/8 Moray 05/9 Wolverhampton 12/9 Robin Hood 19/9 New Forest
i think the above are the correct sequence
Nothing wrong with doing 3 half marathons in Sept, good on you Running Caz. I just tend to go over the top a bit, i'll probably change my mind again once i've done 3 in 3 weeks during June !
IOM , no probably not Shades, as i've got Moray at the end of August, i can handle the running (thats the easy part), its finding the damn money to go on all these excursions (as i like to call them)
I know, I spend somewhere near 500 quid a year on entry fees plus all the petrol and then there's ferries/flights/hotels when required. IOW tomorrow, I'm leaving home before 5 am as it's too expensive to go over the day before and the driving time on a Saturday can be double that of an early Sunday morning.
FA - Undulating but not so much that times are affected. It's city streets then country roads so not bad scenery wise but nothing special, just a couple of dodgy streets! I've always liked this race though.

are you doing IOM in August?
All good fun though! Are you driving to Scotland?
But i'll probably fly to Edinburgh next month, depends how i feel though .
is it flat / undulating / hilly ?
And how scenic is it ? as i've noticed more lately how much i actually look around at the sights when i'm running .
is it as undulating though ?
