I'm wondering if the chap who got out of the water at the same time is one of his Serpie chums.

Well - five hours down, what do you reckon: another six and a half to go?
[taps fingers impatiently]
Shall I give him a ring - do you think he'll have his phone on?

He's a better runner than cyclist - but not too shabby at either. 6 hours plus d'ya reckon for the bike ?
I make it about 6 hours plus 5 minsish now.
If he's 6 and a half hours - that's +17mph - sounds good to me !
