I did it last year as my first-ever race. Organisation was very good. The course is hilly for the first half (over the Chilterns between Chalfont and Amersham) and flat for the second (along a river-side), and very scenic. I would definitely do it again this year, but will be away on holiday :-(
Oooh. This one sounds good as its not very far from me and..... its on a Saturday! I love Saturday races. I'll have to get hold of an entry form somewhere as I'm not a subscriber. I expect there will be some available at my RC nearer to the time.
We have been organising this relatively small and friendly event for the last ten years. Most of our runners keep coming back so we must be doing something right. If you want an entry form please just e.mail us at layzells@btinternet.com and we will send you some more details and a form by return. Regards Vic & Chris Layzell
I did this last year and enjoyed it. The course is narrow in places and there are several stiles, so don't expect to be able to race full blast all the way.
Thinking of doing this race, im only 18 so will be easily the youngest competitor! Everyone in the race seems to be in their 30s and 40s! Does anyone know if entry on the day is normally accepted or if the race is usuallly full beforehand?
Pocahontas, the answers to your questions are yes and no, I think.
I did it in 54 mins and there were lots of people behind me. Don't expect to do it especially fast because it is quite hilly to half way, and the stiles slow you down (but are also a good chance for a rest!)
The marshalling was pretty good last year so don't think you will have a problem.
I'm thinking of doing it to. I'm also at about 60 mins for 10k so I for one won't be pegging it off in front of you. I come from the area and the scenery is beautiful so should be a very enjoyable race.
Think I shall convince Ken to don the running shoes once more, we'll enter this one, the Missenden valley is beautiful so run it regardless of time, you'll be rewarded by the scenery!
I think I might revise my estimate of 60 mins for 10k!! I've registered to enter this race but will I be coming last if I'm looking at around 70 mins??
I am local and have entered with Mrs S. Only her third race and she likes to admire the scenery. Sezzy you will probably have a running partner by the sounds of it.
I looked on the netry form and can find no mention of a team prize catogary. I know that there has been a team prize in the past. Does this mean that they've stopped doing one?
I ran part of the course last night and definitely won't be setting any records on saturday! Even the dog looked knackered at the end. Those stiles really do break up your rythym. Or maybe it was just the hills. If it rains wellies could be a good idea. Great scenery.
Thanks Harry, that's really boosted my confidence .. not! Please can someone tell the St Giles Show organisers not to close the show until I've arrived back! Thank you.
Am worried about the heat for this one as have run the Bearbrook 10k two years running in scorching heat...am NOT a hot weather runner. How much is in the shade/wooded? Can you enter on the day or have I got an excuse to get out of it?
Pizza Man there are still some works going on. On the bit that I ran none of the work appears to obstruct the course. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. It's going to be great.

1. Will I be alright running this if I can only do a 10k normally in about 60mins?
2. Might i get lost when everyone else pegs it off at great speed ahead of me?? I have no sense of direction at all!!!!

If you enjoy this one you might like to have a go at the Amersham 5 and family events at the end of the month.

Happy running
See you all there.

Not sure what my weekend plans are at the moment, but if I have nothing on a will try and make it over.
Probably looking at 60/65 mins.
Great scenery.
Went to an invitation evening with them in Thame last night - trying to get involved with all the social side too.
Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. It's going to be great.
Look out for diagonal green stripe on white.
