I am thinking about doing this, I am worried that I will be really little slow as I only started running 6 months ago and I am still a beginner, it would be really good to say I had done it....and I do live about a mile away so in a way I could call it my local race!!!
Still not convinced will have to ponder a little more....
What kind of times are people thinking they will do??
I am an 11 minute miler on flat ground, with hills it will proberly go to 13/14 so say 15 x 8 it will take me around 2hrs then add 15 mins for the swim I do on the way and maybe another 15 for anything else which may happen I will be aiming at 2.5hrs would this be reasonable, will I be last or are my estimations way out???
Tamsy - this is definitely NOT a pb type course, and I for one will be running to enjoy it. My slow runs are 11-12 min/miles and if you'd like to do this event I'll run round with you to keep you company (did this with Pixie last year and we had a great laugh)
Ok ok I'm in!!! But as long as we go for a well earn pint at the end!!! (Is there any where to shower??) Mind you I will be able to pop home!

Unfortunatly I don't have a shower, but I do have a hose in the garden!!!!!
I am looking forward to it now!! I may pop over the common and do a bit of training on some of those hills as I am used to training on flat surfaces!!!
Is there a plan to go for a pub lunch after??? I could recommend somewhere which is close by?
oh I am not sure I reakon that maybe 30-40 people sitting, it maybe an idea if I call them and organise it, as I can't imagine them being too pleased with a load of "dirty" runners just turning up and overtaking the place!!
I'm sure they are runner friendly as long as they know we are coming!!!!
If you like nearer the time I can try and get a rough number of those who wish to partake in our post race drinks/food etc and let them know.
If anyone else has a better idea please let us know..don't want to look like I am taking over!! (I just like to be organised..especially as there's only 6 weeks and 4 days to go!!!!!! ;-)
My two team mates only agreed to run if i bought them a pint, and they only agreed a couple of weeks ago, i told 'em 2 months would be enough time to train. Ha! guess that means we'll be last then, save some beer and food for us.

Considering that you live soooo close you really can't miss this one, go on.... it'll be a laugh, albeit a muddy and wet one!!

I'm not going for a pb either, what's the point there's going to be sooo many obstacles in the way!
personally I'm just hoping to complete the damn thing in one piece and with minimal tears shed along the way!

The pub's called the Forresters and is only a mile away, It does nice food and on Sunday's will be doing roasts!!!
It has plently of room inside for a large group (if many decide to go!)
