Think Lung Run clashes with moon walk. It is indeedy in Sutton Park. There's a website and it looks like a big event with a bit of a family outing kind of atmos: I like these as it means there's likely to be a giant Womble or someone dressed as a Tweenie that I can actually beat: imagine the shame of being beaten by a Tweenie though!
I'm often in Bearwood as my mate moved there a couple of years ago. My family come from the Halesowen and Bearwood area: it turns out my grandparents met in the big B&W pub but the lights at the top of Bwood high street, my Great Grandad ran the Royal Liver insurance office above what is now Oulsnams eatate agents oppostite and lived opposite Lightwoods park! I love Bearwood: everything you need with the city centre close by. Old fashioned community feel to it.
Bearwood Athlete, is there a reasonable gym near where you work, or a leisure centre? Then you could run in and shower before work: or just stink up your office!
The Lung Run is on 27th April in Sutton Park. There's a choice of 5K and 10K. Sounds like a good day out, but it clashes with the Shakespeare marathon and 1/2M which are also tempting. I will see how I get on with the Silverstone 1/2M before I decide which to enter... The training partners website is www.badlytrainedmonkey.com (sorry, hasn't come out as a hyperlink).
Not only has Bearwood a comunity feel its a great place to train...Yes that was probaly me you saw early this morning heading across the park crossing the Hagley Road towards Harbourne.
See you all at the Action Heart 6 in Dudley on the 23rd? Perhaps we can swap entry numbers nearer the time. I feel this thread has wandered a bit from the B.A.'s original query - but it could be the start of a Black Country running team...

Just as long as we are all chatting no problems to me!
What about a Black Country Running group sounds good to me as the area has a great tradition - great races and even better pubs!!
Ok all you Black Country Runners stand up and be counted.
