Weight 11st 2lb same Waist 28.5in down .5in (down 2.5in since xmas) Hips 38 in down whole in :-) (down 3 in since xmas) Arms and legs same. Run 12 miles used about 1500 cals
I have not wieghed myself for some time - but due to masively reduced training (and too many cornish pasties) i think i must of pu about half a stone on
My mother got took into hospital yesterday and is having 3 ops today so i dont think my training is goining to improve over the short term
I can really feel a difference. Hopefully the weight will start to come off again soon. I'm going to increase my mileage again. It was funny talking about ages and children last night, my life is so different to my parents.
It's my last rest-day before another weekend at work and i'm attempting to begin my application for promotion (four questions to be answered in no more than 3000 words and getting your name right doesn't count)
I've never kept a spreadsheet in my life, but I do have a phenomenal memory for trivial details which comes in very useful in this job. Who cares that I don't know any medicine if I can remember what your auntie's budgie was called and which of your fingers it tried to peck off 9 years ago?
I think my life is musch easyer than what my parents had to go through - my mother had to work part time and my father used to have to have 2 jobs just to keep us
I rembmer him working 12hr shifts form 6to6 then coming home getting changed and going to weight on till 11 at night
I also remeber having an outside loo for the 1st 10 yrs of my life
I agree with you will. We do have it easy. I am very grateful for that and assume that it won't be so easy for ever but should try to appriciate it (funny though as I type this I could list a million things to moan about!)
Anyway I'm off to look at new trainers this lunchtime in an attempt to sort out my knees.
Our lives are definitely easier than those of previous generations - along with a list of "things I have that my grandparents didn't", I could easily make a list of "things my grandparents had that I don't" - like coal scuttles, washing boards, tin baths, girdles, fish cutlery, Advocaat...
....powdered egg, gramaphones, very BIG underwear......
Morning all
WW hope your mum recovers quickly.
I remember now why I dont run in the morning!!...because it HURTS. Well I managed the run to and from the gym and an hour there (although it turned out to be only 3 miles each way). But I do not think I will be doing that again in a hurry, it has just convinced me that my legs wake up a lot later than the rest of me, so unless someone can invent an alarm clock that wakes my legs up at 04.30 but lets the rest of me sleep till just after 6 then forgett it.
Something very spooky just happened....I mention powdered egg and then go of for a lurk on the mature thread only to find them talking about ....powdered egg! No what are the chances of that?
Races are not a problem as is the sunday morning run as long as I have been up about 3 hours. Thats why I insist on getting up with the kids at 7.00 am on Sunday (but I don't tell the mrs that...let her think I'm being chivalrous!)
It's still possible to buy tubs of powdered egg, and Liz Applegate advises athletes to stir powdered egg white into almost everything they eat.
I even saw a vegan substitute for powdered egg in Holland and Barratt. Kevin wants me to buy some. I've told her she'll just have to put up with barely-risen cakes because I'm not buying silly products at silly prices from food-faddist shops.
Oh yes, the chilli - thanks! sounds yummy! will probably give it a whirl at the w/e...
am 'working' today (was my resolution yesterday), have been good til 11.45... did a reporty thing on heroin... notice no-one's interested in forum addiction, my 'habit' is getting hard to kick!
Addicted to the forums? Nah. I'm here because it gives me pleasure. Could kick the habit any day. Just you wait - that'll be my Lenten sacrifice, I shall switch off for six weeks and, who knows, by the end of it I may never want to come back.
But then I'd miss the FLM craic, and the Moonwalk banter, and I'd lose contact with my Trailwalker team...maybe next year. Or the year after. Dammit, I am NOT addicted!
I was on www.expedia.co.uk last night trying to book my trip to Rome for the marathon. Found a flight and hotel combination I wanted, the site said it would be £340. Went right through the booking process, entered card details etc, then at the last screen got the message 'The price has changed, do you still wish to book'
The new cost? £650. Exactly how can the d*mned price just double?? How cr&p, annoying and infuriating is that??
Needless to say I didn't book it, so will be visiting the travel agents this weekend. And will probably end up hitching, sleeping in a church (I'll cliam sanctuary) and using the Trevi fountain for my ablutions.

Impressive stats though, JJ.

Time for a rant.

Rant over, thank you all for listening.
