Also 2 or 3 others according to the URWFRC website. I shall be jogging to the start for my warm up (I live that close!) and I'll have a post-race bevy in either The Bell, Tolleshunt Major (opposite the start/finish) or The Chequers, Goldhanger (2.5m from the start/finish). Anyone care to join me?
Will anyone be wearing blu/yellow kit? I'll be in my local club colours as it's our club 10m championship.
P.S. Long Legs & Little Feat - what a combination!
I have a map but as I have not done this before I am not too sure. I believe it is flatish and I know it is a 2 lap course. The web site is www.tiptreeroadrunners.freeserve.co.uk if you want to have a look.
As rightly stated above it's a 2-lap race through small country lanes with some gentle undulations. Mostly protected by hedges, but there are one or two spots where you can be exposed to the easterly wind (like today!).
Just to set your minds at rest, I have driven around this course today and as LF suggests there are one or two open spots, but the course could really be fast, there seems to be more downhills than up. It is through quite narrow country lanes, so hope there will not be much traffice on the roads as that would make it quite difficult. It starts and finishes at the Beckingham Business Park at Tolleshunt Major and The Bell pub looks to be favourite for meeting up afterwards as this is very close to the finish.
LL & Co. The narrow lanes are usually great as far as traffic is concerned, I do all my road running around there and some days I'll scarcely see a car at all.
LF, that sounds great, The Bell it is then. What time are you hoping for. My PB for 10miles in 84:53 (GSR), so I would like to get near that if possible.
Hi LF, any idea on how many take part in this? I see its in the Essex Championships and so expect that some local clubs will have a lot of representation.
Hi NN - Don't know about overall numbers, but as well as the County Championships it's also my club's 2002 10m Championship race so I'm expecting a decent turnout.
Expect the standard could be quite high (not that I'll be troubling the leaders - unless I get in their way when they lap me!)
whats Springfield Striders like as a club, as I was planning to ring them this week and hopefully turn up on Thursday. I'm getting really tired of training on my own so its about time I joined a club, and they are the nearest to me.
Hi BBB, I am from Sudbury, but Tiptree is just down the road, and the course seems to be pretty fast its my only 10 miler of the year so will be putting all into it.
Parky - Just turn up at Coronation Park and give it a go. SS is pretty informal, effort session on Tues and general running night Thursday. The bar is always open afterwards as these are the same training nights for Chelmsford Rugby Club! http://www.springfield.striders.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm
BB Bob - I'm just down the road from you in Goldhanger. Didn't do the Prom 5K as it clashed with GNR. How was it?

Are you thinking of doing this one, then?

Will wear my new Racing shoes for this one that I just bought at Sweatshop this afternoon.
Shall we say The Bell for a de-brief?

What club do you run for?
Regards, NN
I've now joined Springfield Striders.

It was a nice gentle run, 3 laps of about 1 mile round the prom. 1 sharp turn and steep slope down per lap.
Was quite pleased with my time. I ran 3 consistent 8.45 laps.
