If England had forwards then they'd have a chance. But they don't, so they won't. Spain & Italy seem the best European teams, Argentina also look good but dodgy defensively.
It's been great so far & my personal high lights have been sneider's performance for Holland,Essiens for Ghana,Ivory coast,TnT performance against Sweeden ,spain 4-0 & korea. 2nd & 3rd weeks it normally gets even better
Everytime a player had the ball the closest player was at least 25 yards away, no choice but to play the long ball. Also no one was willing to run with the ball for the first 65 mins.
OK Crouch may have scored but how infuriating was he. Only the keeper to beat (granted it was the magnificent Shaka!) with a good amount of space but he decided to be spectacular with a volley and gets the ball no where near the goal. He gets the ball with his back to goal and instead of using his feet and trying to turn his player he tries a school boy like flick up and volley! Another time the ball was crossed in and at 6' 7" he still felt the need to put his arms around his marker for leverage (and then the ball still sailed over him).
I remember seeing a caption come up with number of attempts, we'd made 16, yet I couldn't remember Shaka actually having to make a save, every effort was way off target.
One other thing though, Venables after the game said (and many people have also said it), that we need a holding midfielder to let Gerrard and Lampard flourish a what they do best. But who gets dropped, and what formation do we play? 3-5-2, 4-5-1
On the 2 games so far no team will be scared of us, but perhaps that's a good thing.
I seem to remember us struggling in the first two games in every tournament and not getting results, but then playing great in the third group game. After all the rant though we are in a better position than we've been in most tournaments at this stage, so we have to take that as a major positive.
Buney if people only watch the England games then shame on them! Granted I do not pay as much attention to them when they are on, but the other games are a hell of a lot more enjoyable!
its actually good to be able watch matches as a (semi)neutral and enjoy the game for what is there rather than wanting one team to win (or lose!)
i also like watching the upcoming young players emerge and seeing some of the foreign legionnaires from around the world playing for their respective countries
Bloody Sven in an interview after the game was asked what he told Rooney just before sending him on, his reply was along the lines of
Quote: "Well, errrrrrrrrr I told him to go out there enjoy it and don't make any stupid tackles"
Where did we get this tactical genius from? The game is 0-0, the substitution is crucial and that is all he says. I'd expect my old Sunday league manager to say something like that (apart from the stupid tackles bit).
Sweden should be a good side, shame their players just don't get on. I've heard that there are 2 groups, one lead by Ljungberg, the other group by Mellberg. The 2 groups just can't stand eachother!!

2nd & 3rd weeks it normally gets even better

Teams like T n T who just defend will be less likely to do that in the knock out stages surely
..hopefully
:0)
was the point I was trying to make!
Very happy at the Liverpool contribution!
..Stevie G is the big hero of my Stevie T!
You must be proud of Chacca ( ?? ) Hislop !
