Well one week to go, better start training for it. Got bit by a dog last week whilst running on the local canal so that knocked me back a bit. How fast did they say this train went?
what about the tenth train? May have a chance of beating that one.
Only two certain things for saturday..
1.I won't be beating any train
2. somewhere around the 8 mile point I'll wish I were dead and want to go and hide in the nearest bushes only to emerge 30 minutes later dressed as a spectator.
Nice to see another hamster on the forum. Unfortunately I'm not running it this year but this is one of my favourite events. I'm very envious of you all. No, not as tough as a marathon but the return section along the slope is hard. Vaseline your feet and do your laces tight as the unusual sideways motion is likely to rub and give you blisters. Add 25% to your half-marathon time as an estimate, ie you need to be able to do a flat half marathon in under 1.25 to have a chance of beating the train. Don't forget to go for a locally made honey ice cream afterwards - it's compulsory. Good luck everybody.
I did 2:22, slower than last years 2:09 but was only slow this year because I paced someone else. Really enjoyed and could really have creamed my time from last year given the weather if I was running on my own.
Some more photo's this time from Cobra RC added to my website with thanks. www.dk10k.co.uk They give an idea of what thew conditions were like from the train.
Running Clubs always get their results up in hours, it's these charity organisations that don't understand the urgency that take time. My DK10k Race with 1300 runners takes place at 7.15pm, and the results are on the website before midnight. I am waiting for the results of a race with 75 runners in it. Crazy.
maybe there's a discrepancy on the results. However if they published them as provisional then hopefully ant runner with the wrong time/place would soon be in touch.
Where's Mr Phil??? Have spent far too long reading the threads at work and haven't found him yet. He finished 2 places behind me having spent most os the race close by.
hi lw. i'm here alive and well and fatter than last week due to extended holiday - trainers have just come out of bag and are still soaking!! thanks for your company en route, kept me going and i was well pleased to finish only 4 mins slower than last year despite virtual zero training all year due to injury,
see you again next year?? or maybe at that beer and cream tea race!!

Course isn't that tough, weather made it harder.
Enjoyed myself though.

The forecast is that it will hiss it down all weekend.
Do you think it will ? I'm not so sure ?
That's not the odds.
That's the time of day.
Cant find the results any where, maybe to early.

At the Dublin Marathon my results were available as soon as I finished the race and I got a freind to text them to me.
Come on Rotary Club of Tywyn - get your fingers out and stop taking the shine off an otherwise brilliant event.
Theres is a good photo of me, page 8, 3 rows down on the right before I fell over and got cut and muddy so I think it must be about 10 miles in?
