It was after a couple of hours reading poetry, looking at the harbour out of the window... and thinking an awful lot that I decided that on my return home the following day, I would leave my job, leave my wife of 23 years and move to Cheshire to be with the girl I had loved for ever..
I got in the Metro yesterday, but not for TLD (Anarchist Camp, and no, we aren't trying to shut down Drax power station, despite what they say *sigh*).
I might be cycling 60m a day next yr, 3 days a week to get to work. Oh dear, i really am going to have to do Tri :¬(
Any idea as to REALLY BRIGHT bike kit? it'll be busy roads in the dark (York-Leeds), and since the train wold cost £135/month, i don't mind spending a bit on making the bike brighter & easier to see, and some winter cycling kit.
Bright lights are an essential (and expensive) must. High viz kit try here. The body warmers look perfect for winter.
Been away and put my chemistry degree to good use in getting a job. I'm now working part time at Cotswolds. )
Speaking of which, just caught your question marcus - mercury is pretty nasty long term in small doses, and if you use enough of it, it's good as a heavy metal poisining (read 'the pale horse' for further info on that). People used to take it to treat syphillis, so it's pretty innocuous in small doses (in the short term).
thanks - i don't mind spending a bit on lights as the train ticket would be £135 per month, so if i onl bike an extra month it's worth getting decent kit! any reccomendations as to what? (especially back lights, they are harder to find really mega-bright).
I'm hoping to put my most-of-a psychology degree to good use working in a running shop :¬) find if i actually got the job end of next week.
*sigh* no, Proper Anarchists are not into random & stupid acts of destruction. We even have 'Peace Monitors' who go talk to people who are getting cross, and are identified by their pink cowboy hats :¬)
Best bet is a bottle cage battery type - lupine lights are VERY expensive but apparently excellent. The other type I've heard about is called endurance - I'll have a look and see if I can find an website.
2T - congrats on the job. £300 for lights my bike is not worth that. Thanks for the information on the mercury, if anyone asks we never had this conversation.

The others on wiggle aren't bad - you can get cateye ones that look fine for about £100. The lupine ones are all over 300 or so.
