The on-line entry is a bit awkward - the link to the entry form only works in the French version. You can then choose the English version of the entry form, though.
Almost flat as a pancake (1 or 2 slight slopes) Great PB potential Entries are still open although if you'd entered before 1st Sept you would have got in at a cheaper rate. It's a superbly organised and supported event. Imagine FLM with a quarter the field & you've got La Rochelle marathon.
Ryan Air are selling flights Stansted to La Rochelle for 99p e/w at the moment - probably around £40 incl. taxes etc. for the round trip.
Did this last year and had a brilliant time. It's a pretty flat course. Just the one slight uphill that I remember... seriously steeper on the second lap though of course!
Jelly - great news you're running (I thought you were supporting???)
RB - entries are still open but I'd get a move on booking a hotel if I were you. Give me a shout if you need any help with that.
I have in mind a fab restaurant for the Saturday night if anyone's interested in a little get together. My mate Neil E Dunnin said it was great..... we couldn't get a table though..
Thanks for the info guys. But the way the flights from the grim frozen north will work means that its exceptionally unlikely. One for next year I'm 'fraid.
Sounds like a good distance for your taper.. I'd go for it Nick. And you can't not do it if they're giving the flights away. It's going to cost me a load more than that to hop on a train from Paree!!
Alki, dins on Saturday would be good. Unfortunately I'll be returning home Monday afternoon. Still trying to remember the name of the flippin' restaurant though....
I am very very tempted Rach and likely to do it - I just need to mull it over in my mind for a day or so. I have missed the cut off point for cheap entries so no need to worry about that.
WHat is with the health certificate thingy on the entry form? Ive never had to do something like that before - assume i just goto the Drs and get them to say 'yes - he isnt going to die trying'.
It was good enough for me both last year & this. As long as your club is UKA affiliated you won't need a medical certificate.
Mind you if in doubt, if you have a Dr Green handy to sign as fit, then I suppose that might save a lot of aggravation.
On that point though, I inquired of my GP re. medical certificates. His reply was words to the effect of "full medical, £150 please." As a result I liaised with the marathon organisers themselves (who have a representative who speaks good English), they affirmed that my club membership exempted me from needing a medical certificate.
When I went to my docs two years ago, they didnt have a clue what I wanted so simply wrote I was fit to run on letterhead. I have since tipex'd the date out and been sorted ever since.
Same sort of thing here. Until last year I got an annual check up to get the cert to be able to race. A friend sent me a copy of her Medicine de Travail certificate though so just tipexed out name and date and filled in the necessary info. Voila!
If you dig around on the last Paris thread Dr Snoop posted a suggested doctor's letter text which people found helpful....
Thanks for the tips on the health thing.....will figure something out. Annoyingly was on club run last night though and my knee is a bit tender after - felt ok to run on, but when doing standing quad stretch (heel to bum) pain behind kneecap.
Hi all. I'm starting to panic a little about this now. My training has been pretty feeble the last month due to the arrival of a little puppy chez moi. Hopefully 5 and a bit weeks worth of effort will do the trick!
Hiya, training has been okay although not as good as usual. Fecking work has just got in the way though and it looks like I'll be stuck in Paris that weekend. Will keep you posted but looking unlikely at the mo.....
Just this minute returned from France. 3:09 in the marathon. That's 10 mins slower than last year; mind you it was about 10 degrees hotter too! How did everyone else get on?

Google la rochelle marathon and it'll bring up their website.
This is the website

Jelly Bean , Wilkie, are you going solo, or taking friends along?
What's the course profile like? Flat? PB potential? Are entries still open?
Great PB potential

They did this 2 years ago and kept swapping the fligh details.

Either Saturday or Monday night would be good!

What do I do!??!? I was planning an 50 mile race 2 weeks after!??!?

Are you a member of a club? If so then the medical cert, is not necessary - just send proof of your membership with your app.
If you're not a member then I'm afraid it is a trip to the Dr.
The fact that a lot of them were signed for by Dr Green of ER went unnoticed

You still coming over?
Best of luck to any other forumites taking part in this race.
Is there a cut off time on this?
