Right folks, walk to work for the first time today - hope I've remembered everything I need to change into when I arrive. One packhorse, about to leave, and I'm off!
Good for you Helen,I have come back from a 4 miles run this morning, did not want too leave my bed which is unusal but out there I went.A glorious sunny day ahead shame I am in work.
Have a good day
ALF: Always a little further Miles makes smiles. Progression
Interesting day ahead: off to solicitor to start divorce ball rolling; up to Ipswich to collect Rolo Rat; take Small and friend, plus training partner to see Johhny English. No booze allowed today and water only after 9pm, because of blood tests tomorrow. Poor Sassie! Oh, and ran 2 miles this morning.
Wow Sassie that is quite a day... all mine consists of is spending the day pretending to work whilst feeling relaxed about this coming Sunday before heading to the theatre tonight with my folks... in reality though I will spend the day with the concentration of a sparrow checking the weather forecast 20 times over in case it changes!!
Had a fab run last night I did the Quakers Hadicap race, it was the first race I've done like that and the first run I've done that far (running continuously - almost) since the FLM.
They were all really friendly and I got a bottle of old speckled hen at the end. What more could I want?
I think it was 5.5miles ish, including a dash through a river, and I did it in 65 mins. There are 2 more over the next few months so I want to get closer to 60mins.
Wicked Witch did it too and came a magnificent 7th!
Hi just noticed the sub-title. Are you all doing the Oxfam trailwalker?? I'm doing it as part of Team Guard's Van (always at the back). Good luck to all with training eamonn
Dr Nick There's 4 FFF teams taking part. 4 of us are doing a 36m practice walk starting at 7am near Aylesbury on Saturday - email me if you or your team are interested.
There's an Oxfam Trailwalk 2 thread on Events where we sort of keep in touch.
pix - when you get here (or anyone else that's interested)
My current JustGiving page handles one-off donations which come out of the donors bank account about 3 working days later.
This is designed for contributions during the long training effort leading up to London 2004. There will be a separate page for pledges for the easy bit of running round London next April
RR - a club handicap race is when all runners starts are staggered by how fast they are, for ecample
The slowest has a PB of 70mins - they go of fist, my PB is 47mins so i start 23mins after them and so on
If everyone equals their PB everyone will cross the line at the same time - this gives the slower runners somthing to race for and produces some exciting finishes
In the Summer tha Handicap race is a trail race
In the summer is is a standard road race
Points are awarded and the best 8 out of a posible 12 races count - winner gets a trophy at the end of year presentation nite and each indervidual monthly winner gets a small shield
Hi everyone. Made it to work in 2 hours. About 7 miles, with some uphill bits. Time for a shower and change and at my desk two minutes early :-)
Home will be the same journey in reverse. Legs already tell me they've done 7 miles - why isn't walking easier than running? Stuck to running shoes today as they seem to be most comfortable so far. Seriously considering them for some sections of trailwalk.
Smarter trick would have been to drive to work, with change of clothes in car, walk home then return next morning, save carrying everything with me. Doh!
