Did I mention how soon till we go?!!! BTW - def packing trainers in my hand luggage - not taking any chances on that. Still dont have a suitable wet weather outfit at all. Oh dear! Soooo sooon!
Im doing the friendship run ( walk, jog )you also get breakfast afterwards. 1st 1000 back get into the marquee the rest get the food given outside. Will probably where my forum top , as will be wearing NSPCC Charity top for the marathon , with Forum Name on back and my name on the front , plus Union Jack on there somewhere. Will have most of my running gear in my handluggage
Pre marathon clothing bought in local charity shop this weekend.
Jogger bottoms, half zip fleece and sweatshirt - total cost £8 - won't be taking any home even if not worn - crotch of joggers down to my knees or if hitched up, waist under my armpits - lovely!
Angi - we'll recognise you then!!! Bought woolly beanie hat with England flag on for £3 @ Sport Soccer or whatever its called and lightweight UJ for £3 as well. Will dig out unwearable clothes for pre: start as long as no-one laughs and thinks I always dress that way!!
alex - is there a dress code for macmillan do? Instead of running Shropshire this weekend, fancy a pint?
You might get the friendship run T shirt at registration and then not have to do it to get one!!
New Yorkers - get ready to welcome some people who have been involved in a yucky post in general 9read but DONT POST running and fasting) and want to come and have fun with us!
Yep, and I'm the first one - escaping from Running and Fasting thread (good idea NR - lets ignore the idiot) for the sake of my blood pressure. Am not running the NY marathon but have the greatest admiration for anyone that is. Good luck all!
oooh spelling! I meant yucky post on the general THREAD and then meant to put a bracket, i.e (read, but dont post "running and fasting"!) Now it's all confusing!
Folks - last year the Friendship Run T-shirt was included in the bag of stuff you got at marathon registration. So you don't need to do the run to get it.
I'm second! Hi to all you lucky people running NY. I'm not going to plough my way back through 700 odd posts, but it seems a much nicer atmosphere in here than on "that" thread. How may days to go?
Hi all Just back from Lilo and Stich. Great film!!!!!. I have been told that the friendship run goes past Mayflower and yes you do get breakfast. Its the U.S.A. isn`t it. Hi to all you newcomers welcome to the very excited thread.
Might be nice to do this run so we can all run together. On the day, we'll all be split up because of starting pens, target times, trapped in portaloos...
Could be the photo op we need to show the Dubliners!
TTM - I arrive on the Friday evening at about 5pm, so probably tired etc & not proposing to do the Friendship Run. BTW you were post no 800 - congratulations!
Hi all me again, I have phoned Mayflower. They said lobby is not that big so they reconmended the bar would be better as its bigger and more comfortable to wait for everybody in . I`m off too Edinburgh tomorrow with the kids. Cheap easy jet flight only staying one night. So hopfully will do long run thurs .I know i`m cutting it fine but i still can`t shift this cold.Ta for now Chris
Seaweed - shame on you! I got BK to help me but when you know how it's really easy peasy. The new one was taken for my work magazine last year and fortunately (or not, when you see it) they hadn't deleted it. I've just uploaded it.
Had to hunt for the thread - we weren't on the front page, can't have that! Still no race number but am definitely on the NYC database. Will have to call those nice people at LPG.
Blimey, EIGHT pages of messages to catch up on !!!!!!!!! Congratulations Romford Runner, 1 hr.20 for 10 miles put your marathon potential as around 3hrs 30 !!!!!! New Runner, glad to hear you're healed ...if you are going to take it easy ( not a problem at this stage) don't forget to keep stretching. Got to go and find out what that other thread is about. See you later guys.
Morning all! Went for a swi last night - felt good to exercise again that's for sure! George - we missed you! Just to confirm - we're meeting in the bar at the Mayflower Sat week at 5pm...with name badges on?
NR, guessed what you had ment, my first thought however was software interrupt, it a work thing so just ignore me. Pleased the foot held up, I kicked mine against the lane thingies on Sunday which worried me but no harm done.
OK guys, do we think we can get this thread up to 900 today just to frighten the dubliners?
Morning all! Am off for a shortish run in a minute, poss a four miler - see how I and the weather fare. Am getting particularly paranoid about being around ill people at the moment, what I really want is one of those green face masks that surgeons wear!

Ran round Central Park last Sunday (13th Oct) and felt dead jealous of you lot doing the marathon. Maybe next year!
Bear - welcome!
A(nother) reason to run the International Friendship Run, I think.
