She looked tired but triumphant. Makes me think I have to do this. In fact, it motivates me to do my PhD. Get the sh*t stuff out of the way and do something worthwhile with my time.
*hugs to Beebs*
Well done to all the ironfolk of the Worcs thread today.
Well doen Crashie and Squishy. I actually saw Squishy finish on the live feed when I was checking the results last night.
Roly, our fast group did Caerphilly in about 8:45, we took a more leisurely 11:57 but we did have a few accidents on the way. A certain lurking BPJ we know did it in 10:45!!
Bl**dy Hell - they did it!! Annoyingly quick time from Crashie there (but everyone knows he missed out a lap on the bike - must have done!), but Squishy? That was just fantastic!

I'll be expecting you back in DGPJOT as soon as you're back though....
Mark - Saturday, don't know yet. Did 17-miles yesterday and my knee is totally dead. Same thing happened last weekend after 16-miles, but I thought a week's rest would sort it out. Going to blitz it with ice, rest and ibuprofen this week and see how it goes. Can I let you know towards the end of the week?
Now then physio-peeps (I know you know nothing, but I can't justify the money getting it properly looked at)...., super painful knee - just to the inside/on top of the knee cap? Hurts to bend and touch. Thoughts?
(please note that I'll only be paying attention to answers that can be fixed with ice and tablets - although I will consider a full range of placebos).
Morning all! Impressive long run there Wickett but sorry about your knee. Sorry, no ideas. I'd go for the ice, ibuprofen route first off. Have you been building up these long runs slowly or just launched yourself into 16/17 mile runs?
Also had text from Squish - tears of joy in Austria too!
Oh and I was 157/163 at Hereford (better than my 2nd from last at Droitwich last year!) Swim: 9:49 (but for 400yds so probably similar to Stratford) Bike + t1 + t2: 45:19 (what I though based on Stratford) Run: 34:55 so 30secs off Stratford so actually that's ok 1:30:03 (1:29:59 would have looked so much better - darn those safety pins having to be redone in t1!!!)
You may have a point about the stretching - I'm rubbish at that, despite ranting at the mrs that she needs to do lots, I hardly do any. Didn't do much after the run on Sunday..., but that's because my knee hurt too much!
Dashes in - why does work have to get in the way so much? Will hopefully post a breakdown of my hectic w/end later (one of the learnings - TMobile hand out the best freebies and have the best looking girls at the TdF), and be able to read back.
Todays tune can be Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls since I found out on Friday one of them lives a couple of miles from me (in a place bizarrely called Cole Christmas).
Mark - did a long run last sunday, then about 4k on Tuesday, but stopped 'cos it hurt. Think I'll just swim this week and give it a full week off. Maybe do some stretching.
Mouse - lockout not a problem, doesn't go weak. Just painful to bend, so very sore when standing up or going down stairs.
In which case - I can't find anything wrong with it other than not stretching. Muppet! You may find that your muscles are so tight they are not letting your kneecap return properly. Stretch more sonny boy or you'll end up shelling out cabillions on massage/fizzio like I had to. Also, what HL said - have you built your mileage up or just yomped on out there?
Well done HL! Do you fancy coming back up to Stratford as well at the end of Sept?

Go Squish!

wickett - are you still coming for the little run on saturday?
I have stopped crying, I was so proud and am inclined to cry at happy triumph as well as sadness :-)
