JJ, had decided not to attempt running just yet, so will do as you advise.
Hopefully it won't be too wet or windy for a while, and our autumn colouring can develop fully - it's starting to look good. We are scheduled to go on a 'Fungus Foray' in the forest next Sunday, and it will be enhanced by some nice colouring.
Glad Esther is recovering well, Red.
Helen, that sounds like very good cross-training.
Good luck with the stretching Jim - perhaps you should get your shoes checked, as JJ suggests.
Just having a coffee before heading out on Esther. It's Mike's birthday today, the sun is shining and we're going for a long walk together after lunch then for a meal this evening.
I've finally finished my Beachy report and it's on my blog if anyone wants to be bored to tears! As usual, it's not short and there's yet another photo of the ever diminishing Hippo who should probably be renamed "Midget Hippo"
Red I will certainly read your blog later today and look forward to it, also look forward to seeing our diminishing Hipps.
JJ sounds like school business with rest your weary legs.
Beautiful day today here in Guildford. However, my 5 miles were run in the gym!!!! I had an appointment with PT for exercises to do at home, I have now got my complete plan. It is a good one. I was feeling a bit better until I did a double circuit of exercises and 5 miles on the treddie, now I feel tired again. But the sunshine is very uplifting.
Aaah, that looks like a gorge in the south of Crete that I walked down. Tends to be closed in winter because a river runs through it Hope you enjoyed the holiday.
I couldn't make a post at lunch time, so I'm running late.
A belated "Well Done" to Ceal for reaching the pages of RW.
Jj - you could be right about the shoes. I keep a log of miles done. I've just finished with a pair having done 536 miles. That's not a big amount. I was thinking the damage possibly started before the supposed magical 500 mark.
I use a different pair for my long runs. They are meant for trails & I try & run off road but some of the run is on pavements. Even so, there should be loads of mileage in them yet.
Red - I've had a read of your blog (Beachy report) & enjoyed it. You should be on commission for next year's applications! A belated round of birthday wishes to hubby Mike from me. Your plans for the day sounded lovely, I hope it was good.
Last night's 5 miler passed without any complications. I'm hoping for a repeat tonight.
thanks Red, a great report, and you are absolutely right, Hippo is fading away, she's tiny compared to a couple of years ago. You look quite fresh in the 'action' pic Anthony took, obviously you really enjoyed it.
As for your last line........how about a triathlon?

my legs feel a bit off too!
Celebrate my return, JJ (or perhaps drown your sorrows)
BEACHY HEAD 2008 for me next year. Whether I run or walk is another thing but that event is definitely in my calendar.
I think it should be a Maturites outing myself. Soggy egg sarnies and a cold flask of coffee.
List should begin NOW!

This was typical of the type of walking we did in Crete. I am at the bottom of the photo, the back of my head is just in sight.
Sunny and breezy here in Gravesend.
Red - Nice blog entry, quite a year, it will be hard to better it. Happy birthday to Mike.
JJ - Look after those legs, they've done some great work recently.
The appearance of a very enthusiastic Sun seems to have broken the Tuesday curse. I had a run around the park at various speeds.
Run and recover well all.
Mike says thank you for the birthday wishes
Just letting lunch digest a bit before our walk. We've going up to Great Dixter and back which is just over 5 miles and very scenic.
IW, its here http://www.extremeknittingredhead.blogspot.com/
Red, what a fab blog. Have been trying (and failing miserably) to describe the Beachy experience and you've got it to a 't'.
Hope Mike has a great birthday. Have a lovely walk.
Hello to all,
