To offer a decent prize for the best marshall. As we used the army cadets last year, some of them were pretty young which in turn means many did not turn up on the day!!
Have a word with the local cadet assistant administaor. They should be doing as agreed as marshaling counts towards the community parts of the cadets work. No comunity work, no "fun" stuff.
Need someone with knowledge of VHF to deal with walkie talkies on the day - and to organise this aspect of the race.
LOL, I was asked to join the TA. Minor snag being that I was 10 years older than the bloke thought I was, so I was too ancient to join and that I am a Dutch national LOL! And not sure what it means for the TA that hey want the likes of me...
I don't run there Taff, it is up the road from you, a little bit further from me I think... is it steep? Oh and I am seriously thinking of entering the 24hrs road race there, which apparently is very hilly? Trying to work out ho it compares with the Gospel Pass... any thoughts?
Tri Taffia - Re the V.H.F. help required, I had better clarify that we're looking for someone who wouldn't be running. The problem is that mobile phones don't work from the other side of the hill. A walkie-talkie is fine from the far side to the roundabout but not down to race H.Q. So last year we posted a man at the roundabout to relay messages from the far side to H.Q. in case of any problems. This worked fine but of course he (or she) needs to be there from the start until everyone has passed about 5 K. Many thanks for the offer but we'll probably be able to use one of the cadets for the job - it's just a case of getting one familiar with using a simplex system beforehand.
Han a friend locally has a spare as well I just need to get hold of him - I am not even sureif mine is completely dead but as it is about 7 years old I think it might be
Ours is spare for a similar reason Maddy. Dell tends to give you free printers when you buy a new computer, and we already have two laserprinters and one travelling printer...
DAD OF 2 URGENTLY REQUIRED TO PHONE GYM ON 01497 822995, SO WE CAN DISCUSS HOW TO FULLY EXPLOIT HIS POTENTIAL AS PUBLICITY MANAGER FOR THE MAGIC ROUNDABOUT RACE!!! Cat.
