To city fan the 2005 mararthon was so hot when we where coming though st annes that someone from a house had a hose pipe out and all the runners where going though it by the time I had finished I was badly sunburnt
also at that race that was problems with the water yobs had throwed the bottles into the sea
This was my and Mr Bleen's first 10k (and Mr Bleen's first ever race - he still beat me) and we totally loved it and were on a total high the rest of the day. Best moment: running behind a clown squirting water at bystanders when one of the bystanders pulled out his own water pistol and squirted him back! It could only happen in Blackpool!
Like Tony D I have been trying to find results/times with no luck. I know there was a problem at the finish, when the clock suddenly went to zero. However not sure if this had any effect???
Excellent course, fantastic crowd support, and if you want a PB this is the course for you. ( as long as you don't start too far back )
chip timing would make the race look overly serious and stop the thousands of people whos goal is to raise money for charity and manage to get round, changing the tone of the event entirely.
Because it was so hot i kept settling into a nice pace then notice the person infront of me smelt because of the heat and have to overtake them or put up with the smell of B.O the whole race, an odd way to inspire me to run faster but it worked lol, anyone else have that prob?
There is a run in manchester on sunday with chip timing that has 30,000 people running, nearly all for charity.the reason i felt so dissapointed was i ran my heart out on sunday for a pb and now have no time to show for it.
Anyone that enjoyed this one and fancies a brand new race that is just up the road at Fleetwood a fast flat 10k and you will not be missed of the results and every finisher gets a technical t shirt the race is called the Sotos 10k a charity race to raise awareness to Sotos syndrome you can enter online at ukresults or find more info on runners world
