rd... definitely mulled wine and mince pies... yum!
I'm in general training...still doing around 40 miles a week though. I'm starting my marathon training schedule for Amsterdam in two weeks time and then after a short rest I'll repeat the last 6 or so weeks of the schedule... that's the plan anyway
Will be starting serious training as from the second week in July - have other commitments to get out of the way first. Was going to do a hilly 8 miler over the South Downs yesterday but couldn't as I got a migraine attack. Am better now, thankfully.
RW are going to advise a training schedule soon for Hastings.
those who want a bacon buttie on 'The Run' can take advantage of two cafes on route at approx 20 and 23 miles,or wait until you finish. Mince pies sound good at finish.
I wonder what the attraction will be about the RW marathon schedule for the Hastings race? More hill training perhaps? Might they be adapting something they have already? Do we need this? Hmmm.........................................
i am partial to an oyster but i think post marathon a mince pie would hit the spot - especially if it's home made with really thin shortcrust pastry, not that i'm fussy or anything
The thing about mince Pies... the wife makes them with a Puff Pasty crust! Oh yeah (Mouth started watering... mush get a bib!) the only way to have them
one suggestion for drinks on the run from my experience doing Ironman triathlons - warm chicken bouillon.........probably best left till after half way when people are getting fed up with stickly gels and sports drinks...........this stuff being slightly salty and savoury makes a great change of taste and really gives you a lift (especially when you already been grafting away for over 12hrs or so!)
if it's a cold day, a warm drink will also be very welcome - biggest problem maybe keeping enough of it warm so you might need industrial scale thermos containers or some means of warming it up (electrical water urn maybe)
Tuck it down your shorts FB that would keep it warm
I have just ventured here for the first time and I find half of Thanet here Get back to the Fans of Thanet, where you belong
As for oxo (two pages back) a treat on a Sunday would be licking the bits of leftover oxo from my mothers fingertips on a Sunday lunchtime. It doesn't sound so appealing now but back then (about 1908 I think) it gave you that warm feeling that only Mums could give arrhhhh
Oi Cliff, we don't want "nutters" like you on here, you will be telling us we should all be running round the course twice, or doing it backwards or something!
Comments
How about some warm mulled wine... it will be near Chrimbo after all
Iam with Paul A and Sunluvvas bacon buttie.
just off to kitchen
I reckon the race is 6 months today - some of us will probably still be running i in exactly 6 months! (as at 19-10!!)
that'll be very useful, itb!!!
just been for a hilly 9miler - was retching at the top of the big hill so that bodes well for this
mulled wine and mince pies sound good to me!

They do indeed... so long as they're vegetarian mince pies

I would much rather a nice cup of tea. Mulled wine sounds good though.
