Final posting on this forum until we reconvene (up above!) for the 2108 Hastings Marathon!
Just to let you know that the Hastings Observer will be featuring the race in today's edition. Last weeks Pre Race issue was equally good. I phoned and ordered both last weeks and this weeks.
Hope you've all revovered O.K? I've run a couple of gentle 5 milers this week and will gradually increase the mileage again over the next couple of weeks before running the Disney Half Marathon and Full Marathon on 10th and 11th Jan respectively next year.
See you all in Hastings again one day? I'll aim for the 2010 Half because I'm running the Bath Half on the same day as the 2009 Hastings Half! Out of interest, before I sign off, is the Hastings Half a tough race?
Tony - last post from me here too, but to answer your question re the Hastings Half, it is quite tough but not too bad. There's a short steep hill in the first mile (Harley Shute), then a long (2 mile) gradual haul up Queensway from mile 6 to 8, then all downhill from there. I have run the last 4 - 2005 was my first ever race having only started running 3 months before and I managed 2:06. I'm now down to 1:43 at Hastings. Might see you there in 2010. Good luck in the Disneys. Cheers all.
Havent been able to do any exercise since. My foot is too painful & my leg feels like its been pulled off & put on back to front! Physio monday! Such joy! It was all worth it though!
That was a great day and for a first marathon bit of an eye opener. Off to fizz next week to try and sort my knee problem out. Legs feel fine now but could hardly walk on Mon & Tues.
It was nice to meet somany forumites and put faces to names.
Seeing as you're all signing off . . a quick note that I'll be moving all the Forumites I've been told about into the Running Friends pages of my Hastings Marathon gallery tonight . . thanks again for all the heads' up
nice to see that RW have done a wee piece about the event
Had my feet up since Sunday, well other than for work and xmas shopping. Think I might have a rest from running until the new year. Think I've deserved it after doing 4 marathons this year.
No side effects from Sunday. My not bad finishing photo turned up today too.
So got to decide on my marathon plans for next year. Reckon I will stick to two, a spring one and an autumn race. Just got decide on UK or European races.
Happy Christmas Hastings Marathoners! I'm off to Orlando on Monday (29th Dec) to do the Disney Goofy Challenge (Disney Half Marathon and Marathon on successive days on 10th and 11th Jan 09). I'm hoping it will be somewhat warmer than our run together at Hastings?
