Don't worry - no secret marathon plans! I just find myself getting dragged along with the rest of the group on a sunday morning and they're mostly marathon training.

Jim - take it easy if you run this week and fingers crossed the knee will be ok.

Hi all-some good miles put in over the weekend. We have been quite lucky compared to the mainland.Managed a steady 11 miles with longhair-he went on to 16miles-hamstring/buttock tight after an hour-longest time on my feet since November! Just back from physio-deep friction, ultrasound and stretches. Rodney-good tempo run on Friday-looks like u could cover 20miles easily with some company and a more relaxed start!!                                                                                                        Jim did u get along to the physio?  HMM-might try easy run with club tonight if no fog or ice otherwise light jog on Treadmill. Leek-thanks for invite to Downpatrick 10k-not sure yet-will enter on the day if racing.Still hoping to run Reading half but need few more weeks training in the system-speed work-tempo runs -longer runs etc.

Everyone -have a good weeks running and otherwise!image

Robin, I think i got the go ahead for Roe Valley last night , so hopefully see you there. 7.8 miles at training last night. It was a very relaxed run last night and probably what I needed.

7.4 miles last night including 25 min at 6:45mmp. Felt good despite the heavy mileage at the weekend. It's nice to be running well again.

Glad to hear there's going to be a good forum turn-out at Roe Valley image

City has just announced JJB gone into administration - maybe pick up a few bargains although they tend to have poor choice in mens running gear.

Thanks for asking Rodney.  Still off the road but I'll try a gentle run tonight to see how things are.  Did the clip open?

I agree with your coments HMM, its sad but not suprising about JJB.

HMM, Rodney et al, some great mileage being run. I feel very jealous... am really struggling to get the runs in which is a bad sign for me.... only averaging around 40K per week. Cycling is coming on well.... Saturday did 127Km averaging 27Km/h.... pleased with that.

Was surprised today .... cycled to work in the pouring rain, 27K then did my usual 10K run route at lunchtime.... weather was atrocious, sleet and very windy.... just put the head down and got on with it.... started off not too hard and ramped up the last 5K... was really surprised to see I did it in 45:30. Legs feel funny though... think all the cycling is making them stronger but they feel a bit dead... like there is no spark in them. Am just about to get back on the bike to do the 27K back home.... despite the sleet and the wind am looking forward to it! image

Keep running and healing everyone.... Oh and, Ferdy, you know you secretly want to do the marathon!

Keep it going BBT - patience is key.

HMM, not surprised to hear about JJB. There's one about 100 yards from where I work. Their prices are fairly high. Can't seem reducing stock much further than they already have.

Good tip though...if you're ever in Belfast, call into Sports Direct on the Boucher Road. They've amazing deals. Called into today and bought a pair of Karrimor Run84 trail runners. Excellent value. £18. Reduced from £59.99. They look and feel fantastic. Hopefully get a few runs up and down the Cavehill in them.

All their Karrimor stuff is heavily reduced. If any of you are into mountain walking, their Karrimor trail boots are all around £20 (reduced from £70+).

I nearly picked up a pair of Asics Kayanos 14, which were on sale on for £50.00 (reduced from £120) but didn't have my size.

There are bargains to be had. You just have to know where to look !!!image

    C75-

Seen the Karrimor84 on Sportsdirect.com and was going to order a pair. Can you tell me what the fitting is like, I take a size 9 in Asics and wasn't sure whether to order a size 9 or 10. Need all the help I get on the Tollymore trails!!

    Tried them on earlier Leek.

They're a regular fit. No bigger no smaller, but maybe slightly narrower (only a wee bit, nothing major) than a regular shoe.

I got the lime green and charcoal. It'll be a shame to get them dirty. They're v cool looking. They also do them in black and had loads of sizes when I went it today.

Looking forward to giving them a blast this weekend.

JJB have placed two of it subsidiaries in administration and is trying to sell it gym business to raise some fund. No bargins yet guys. C57 we have a Sports Direct in Coleraine must go into it more often.

Walked down the Roe Valley course yesterday the bits that have been added on are fairly level once you go up heartbreak hill there is a longer run into the finish which is closer the the start than last year. Lovely afternoon just wish I had brough my running gear with me.

Speed session last night 6 x 4 mins on 2 mins off. My ankle was a bit sore before hand but felt OK during the session still a bit sore this morning.

IMIB thats good cycling, another couple of mph and you're ready for racing.  Distance is great.

Time for physio after last night.  Was going to turn after 1/2 mile but ran on for 5, pity as I hardly broke sweat.

  • Options

Entered Larne last night - never ran it before but is always good training for BCM I suppose.  I also hear there are good toilet facilities half way up the climb image

Might also run Omagh as it is the 20th running of that event.

7 out at speed training last night. We thought the frost might slow us down a bit but it wasn't too bad as long as we were careful on a few of the corners. We did 5min, 4min, 3min, 3min, 2min, 1 min with 1min recoveries. A good session and felt good again last night.

All set now for Roe Valley on Saturday. Not sure what to do tomorrow mileage wise with the race on Saturday.

AU, how did you get on at physio and how is the Hoff doing ?

  • Options

AU I was talking to mate of your today Mark Hudson.

Forecast for Saturday not looking too bad. I wouldn't  wear a new pair of trainers as the course is a bit muddy in places.

Hi Folks - quick question... Where would on get the road running fixtures for the south of Ireland?

If there were anything interesting on might get a weekend away with a race fitted in...

  • Options

Rodney I won't see the physio until next week but I'm fortunate enough to get access directly to a specialist team in Belfast, only a few hundred yards from my office, so its worth waiting on especially as its free!  Will try another run at the weekend and maybe a swim tormorrow.

Kenny Mark's a good runner, especially with a map.  Get him signed up.
