Sod the Selk.. My sodding family have got all interested again

Sprog 2's g/f and her sisters are sticking an entry in as a relay (they did 1hr 23 at the Divas)

and Suzie and Sprog 4 and a mate are doing it as a relay as well...

I'm going to have to get some training in to hold my head up after this ........

The ankle is feeling better and I managed a very gentle 9 km round the marshes last Thursday and then 14 miles and 9 Wainwrights in the Lakes on Saturday... Just not sure it is upto the combined might of the family in 2 relay teams against me

One more added too the Buff list!

I'm having a serious wibble about my tri plans at the moment - I've entered the South Coast one on 15th August, but it's a sea swim (200m) and I can only swim about 100m so far in a pool... It's run by the same people as NW and if you cancel one you can transfer some of the fee to a future event, so I may just give up on South Coast and make NW my first! I'll probably feel like a failure if I do that though

I think the 200m race will give you a bit of experience though, you get to figure out how transitions work etc, and I have all faith that by 3 weeks you can do 200m.

And then you'll feel much better prepared for Nantwich.

But it's in the sea! I think that's what's worrying me at the moment - no sides to hold on to for a breather. Will have to be FC as I can't breastroke. I think you get to transfer entry fees up until 10 days before, so I may wait until then to see how the swimming is going. I'm supposed to be doing a 10k race the day after too in preparation for Bristol Half, and doing a tri the day before is probably not best preparation. Everything seems to be conspiring against me for August!

Is there somewhere near you where you can do a sea swim, or generally practice open water?

There will be safety in the water in your race. I was last out of the water in Bala, and the canoist never left my side.

Maraca, I'm doing the South Coast one too. I swim in the sea most weekends (and I could do weekdays too) so if you want to meet up for some practice then drop me a line.

The sea is different to the pool, but it doesn't have to be something to be afraid of. I strongly recommend having a go in the sea before race day so that you know what to expect.

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I have entered and my OH has said that we should camp the night before. (we are coming from Kent and were going to stay at my mums, but camping will be so much more fun!!) Do I have to register anywhere for camping or do I just turn up with a tent?? Am I allowed to be a F.L.A.P.

This will be my first tri and I'm very excited

You couldn't miss them last time, although at the end when I had time to speak they had all disappeared

I didn't camp as I'm only an hour away so not much time to speak before.

Be warned the directions were sh*te I didn't see the supermarket (was it Sainsburys?) can't remember now) so followed the sign for the swimming pool and parked there. As did others who couldn't find the main park. They didn't supply a post code and the directions were otherwise 'vague'.
