I never got the chance to see Nirvana... that was sad.
Hey... here's a question
Ever been pleasantly surprised... I mean been to a gig where you weren't expecting much but were blown away?
Echo and the Bunnymen... I wasn't that keen in the 1980s but went to a gig in Liverpool a couple of years ago with my then girlfriend who was a big fan and they were fantastic... really enjoyed it and went out and bought their back catologue on the strength
Loads of times last time was seeing a band called arnocore at local place they were billed at a heavy metal arni tribute band which they were but very good at it and incredible satire. Well worth a look if you ever see them about. Americans who could understand irony!
Had that Corinthian. Went to see a a band call Tygertailz at a now dead rock club in Brum called Edwards No.8. The support were a localish band called Wolfsbane who were supposed to be awful. Wolfsbane were superb, blew Tygertailz off the stage. They ended up being signed by Def Jam a couple of years later but split not long after when the lead singer buggered off to join a little band called Iron Maiden. Still listen to some Wolfsbane now.
Hehehe, they were great Shimmy. I used to follow the Wolfies around the local club circuit before they were signed. Great live act but never really transfered to record that well unfortunately, nice blokes too. Don't know what happened to Jase, Jeff and Steve, but Bailey is raking it in with his own act now.
Wolfsbane- perfect for filling my *most regret missing seeing live* slot.
I'm having problems also with my best gig- for sheer theatricality ZZ Top afterburner tour (Wembley Arena 1985/6?) is up there, but Metallica's gigs at Wembley stadium last year were good in a pure 'lift your spirits/shared experience' kinda way.
Worst- hmm, I expect I've expunged some shockers, most recent 'meh' was Aerosmith at Hyde Park a couple of years back.
Glad I caught- Queen It's a kind of magic 1985 (twice)
and I saw Thunder supporting someone and was impressed.

Janes Addiction,
I thought they were going to be a poor second to NIN but I preferred them and wished they could have stayed on all night. I loved them.
Also, I accidentaly bought tickets to see Apocolyptica instead Apop. Apocolyptica are a Finnish cello band that do covers of metal tracks.
MY GOD!! they rocked. It was a great gig. Loved it.
Still not seen Apop though

(Ignores LB who is plainly itching for a fight)
GP Loads of good venues shut down in Liverpool... 'Erics' was one; 'Planet X' 'The Crazy House' all gone now.
The 'Flying Picket' is still going strong I believe.
As a scouser it pains me to say it but Manchester had a much better music scene from 1982 - 96 and I'd spend most of my time there.
Newcastle isn't so bad though... some really good venues
